This morning i pushed it, then it raised the seat position up. Now it wont go down!!!

Moving the front of the bar up/down moves the front of the seat up/down. Ditto for the rear of the bar for the rear of the seat.

ive taken the front seat out. Wiring seems to be in tact.

If i push down, it does nothing but if i push up, it makes a noise.

I suspect the motor has died?

i had a similar issue turned out that the contacts needed to be cleaned. Has carbon built up on your contacts?

by contacts you mean the white plug?

if so, then no, there is no build up. Looks pretty clean.

thanks for that Alan

Hold it up until it stops moving, im pretty sure these things go up then down when you hold them in one direction

I think he means contacts in the switch itself, not the plug. i would get some electrical contact cleaner, pop the switch off and spray the contacts and inside with it. that will probably fix the problem

I haven't read the whole thread but:
I have a suggestion which works for me (for free lol) when the electrics of my Merc play up.
I spray the switches and contacts with WD 40 penetrating solution and sometimes they miraculously function for a while.
If it doesn't work from there then take an electrical multi metre $20-$30 from Dick Smiths
switch it to 20v and test the wires and switches to find out where the electrical current stops and there you should have the problem isolated.
You may have to have someone work the switch while your testing the circuit.
Good luck

by contacts i mean the pieces of metal that touch when you push the switch. They usually blacken over time and hence stop working. i fixed mine by scraping of the black carbon. you can also get cleaners for it but meh.

pull that bit off, undo the 2 screws, comes a rectangle box with clear backing?

Spray some electrical cleaner into the rectangle box?
