read somewhere that it may be possible to replace the lcd rear mirror to a newer lexus model...can anyone comment?

that they (some) have extra features and don't have the characteristic leak of lcd from the lower left corner!

Extra features? The late model Soarer LCD ones have auto tint as well as manual (they can be distinguished by the fact they have two buttons rather than one). They seem to be pretty rare (I've only seen one for sale so I bought it) and can be easily retro-fitted.

I found some sellers in the Us ebay.
I got the mirror and sun visors out of a 1997 model Lexus and all fits for just over $200 AUD.
I found this seller was great and all arrived in quick time.

Adam I dont understand why you were questioning the viability of doing this considering you have done exactly what i was asking about!?!

Holy cow. if anyone has access to any late units especially with say compass or other functions let me know as im in the market.

Ben, only questioning it as I wasn't aware of any 'extra' features (such as the aforementioned compass) other than auto-tint.

thanks though adam and colin, does anyone actually know which units fit and which one has an electronic compass (if any). What might these units cost from toyota or lexus? i suspect that giving up on the original lcd units is the way to go.
