Hi guys,
Would anyone have any suggestions on how and what to use to remove stains from the the car carpet?
The previous owners of my car must have been bush folk that had an assortment of animals who shared the car. :-)

The carpet is originally grey, but now has deep brown stains within it. How would I remove those stains? Normal carpet stain remover?

I guess it depends on what has caused the stains.
The best way to get the carpets properly clean is to completely remove them from the car, give them a good blast with a Karcher or similar high pressure cleaner, scrub with carpet cleaner and repeat a few times.

However, by the time you have finished messing around, it may be worthwhile spending the $200 and get a replacement fitted carpet from E-Bay.

or buy some cans of VHT and re-dye them another colour.

The carpet is a grey/green (spruce?). If I were to dye the carpet a similar colour, will the dark stains still come through?

Hey mate,

Before you try anything as drastic as replacing the carpet or re-dyeing it, I'd suggest you try a product called 'Carpet Stain Remover' (an imaginative name!) by 'Cavalier Bremworth Carpets'. I had a couple of unsightly mud stains on my carpet and was freaking out as to how to get rid of them and used this stuff and it worked like magic. I bought a can from Woolies for around $9 and followed the instructions (spray it over the entire stained area, wait for it to turn white and powdery and then vacuum it off) and you'd honestly never have any idea a stain existed there in the first place. I used the vacuum at one of those self service car washes as they're pretty powerful.

That worked for me anyways mate, good luck with it.

I think I read somewhere that using some biodegradable truck wash and a pressure cleaner at the car wash gave good results.........I may try this in week or two when I'm putting my black seats in.........will post up some results

A bath tub full of water and 4l of bleach was my cheap solution.... Sure they are a few shades of purple but the look pretty cool and 60's.

WARNING. DONT TRY THIS THERE IS A CHANCE THEY WILL TURN BLOCHY LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
