| Guys, just wanting others opinions... You spend much time and money getting your interior just to your liking and decide black seats would be good. There is a set advertised on this site and you ask their condition in relation to ciggie burns, rips ec. You are told "there are none" . When they arrive this is what the drivers seat looks like I addressed the issue with the seller via email and was told basically to piss off. I feel a little cheated as I have so far always had good experiences with SC sellers. Anyway, my point is I am wondering if Im being a pefectionist and over-reacting or would you feel the same? Cheers guys.

based on what you've written i'd feel cheated. i don't know what you could really do about it though, other than learn from it i guess. second hand parts are never going to be perfect but when you buy something on someone's word you need to be able to take them at face value. if they said there wasn't any marks you are quite right to expect no marks. i guess next time ask for as many pics as you can so you can cross reference them.

Well if you were told there were no burn marks, then yeah i would be annoyed. But i myself am a bit of a perfectionist anyway. If you are truly upset and the seller wont do anything and is telling you to piss off, you could name and shame them to warn others of the sellers false nature.

I am not always a perfectionist, but when you spend this amount time on something you do want it to be perfect, as well as no-one likes being lied to. Yeah they pretty much told me, bad luck they were a good price anyway.....which is not entirely true. Rampant in Ringwood tell me they have a pair for $100 less than what I paid. Although money isn't the issue. I did not want damaged seats. I was considering the name and shame, just not sure of the moderators feeling toward that type of action............ Anyway life (in a Soarer) goes on . . . . . .

Yeah thats not right. He was obviously aware he cheated you if he basically turned around and said 'too bad you got them for a good price'. Also he blatantly lied when answering your questions about burn marks etc. I'd give it a couple of days to try remedy something with the seller otherwise 'Name & Shame'.

That's just a good example of not giving an accurate description when selling something. Speaking of buying stuff. I bought a second hand leather jacket today, it was described in good condition, and it is, and some! Like brand new. But its a shame when you go the other way and the goods are in worse condition than described. Bring up his name so others don't deal with him in future!

I recently sold my seats on this forum, posted plenty of pics of fully advertised the damage to the drivers seat. The seller was fully informed and everything went well. This is just plain crap! It is an unfortunate truth, but just because we are dealing with fellow members, in no way guarantees us a satisfactory result. I have bought an item off a very well established (and for whatever reason respected) member that has been around for a long time. It was dead on arrival. Upon my requests to explain, I was told it was working when it left his place, and to just deal with it!!! Ok, my rant is over. I hope you get a satisfactory resolution mate.

Name and shame. Paying too much is one thing but paying too much AND receiving damaged gear, AND THEN having the seller refuse to do anything about it is just not right.

i would be offended at this. especially if he said they were in good condition. i agree, name and shame would probably be a good way to warn other buyers in the future

| Well it seems that the majority is for a name and shame!! Also it seems from the response of others that I am not over reacting. Ben, you make a good point. I guess I was a little naive, its just I would not lie to sell something, especially on this forum, I have had so many good experiences buying so far and I expect the same. Another interesting point..... At firsts I must have just thought using a camera was new to this retard but I now see that this was a sales strategy. This is how they have been advertised......
Awfully convenient that you cant see the burns on the 'bum part' of the drivers seat....... |

I have watched this thread from the beginning, Shame, Shame, Shame. I have bought quite a bit of stuff from this forum in the short time I have been a member, from a TRC switch, through big brakes, coil overs, all the way to V8 engine and transmission and all the sellers here have been of the highest calibre. We can't let liars and cheats ruin the trust that is exhibited by the majority of enthusiasts here!

Hey Cam how much did you end up paying for them if you dont mind me asking. I was actually thinking of getting these but those photos pissed me off that they didnt show much. This is always a problem buying off the net or via ebay. Ive bought stuf off forums or ebay that didnt mention marks or stain, i bought a plastic seatbelt surround and it had been set on fire with a lighter yet they took the photo of it so you couldn't see it. Normally if i have this happen to me its almost impossible to get a refund as then postage costs come into it and such so i normally try and come to a cross road where a bit of a discount is made back to you. Im the same about getting parts and everything i buy for my car in pristine condition but when this happens the best you can do is minimise the damage to your hip pocket and just bite the bullet. I know its sucks but cant do anything else really.

Dont be discouraged boys and girls, there are always some good bargains to be snapped up online also. Sure , no-one likes gettin duped but you also need to make sure YOU ask for as many pics as possible as that is the best way to see if there is any damage or not. OR if you have a mate in the area (even an online Soarer mate who you may never have met) ask if they could be so kind as to check it out for you. We have all had bad experiances with online shopping and im confident we have all had some great ones also. I bought some window weather shields a while ago and when they arrived the postie gave them to me folded in HALF I didnt crack a sad, i simply took some pics and told the guy i bought them off what had happend. He happliy refunded my money and there was no bitterness at all. anyways - im starting to ramble. YES it looks like you got duped a little with some small ciggie burns which you didnt know about and that is no good. Did Kevin really say "piss off" ? Generally speaking a bit of diplomacy is needed on BOTH sides to sort these issues out. So what do you want to happen now ? - A full refund ? (you send seats back) - A couple of bucks off for the ciggie burn ? - An apology / explaination ? or a hug ? *im only playing with the last one mate* What is the next step now after the public name and shame? I dont mind the idea of some sort of feedback rating hey for when one sells an item on here.......

Hi James, He didn't actually say piss off specifically, that was just the general tone. I was very diplomatic, sent a politely firm message explaining the situation (will post it up if anyone is interested) asking for a part refund. He said he could not refund any money because the price I paid was good for black seats in any condition....... He made some stupid offer to refund the money if I got the seats back to him (back to Sydney from Melbourne) in good condition. So then I'd still be out about $150 for postage on seats I paid $250 for and then wouldn't even have........? Gee, thanks Kevin... And yes, I would like a hug.......

Im jumping on this "Name & Shame" bandwagon. Earlier this year I bought a HID Kit from Moses Sawiris (if that is his real name) for $200. i transfered the funds and received nothing after 3 un- responded emails, i found his phone number though a source and called him, apperantely his cousin was selling them and he mustn't of sent it so i was supposedly going to recieve them the next week. still nothing and it would seem he has changed sims because no matter what phone i call from he wont answer. the coward hasn't even come back to this site that i know of.

Ray, that's an even worse off story than poor Cameron! It's a shame to see that stuff going on. Ohwell, I guess we can take some comfort in the fact that it's only a small percentage of people that are ****heads. But unfortunately, it can be difficult to tell the difference online. Best of luck getting the money/HID kit and Moses Sawiris your a F***WAD!!!!
