Well the passengars side handle comes of easy by pulling the top clips of which them allows the bottom one to come off and then your left with the handle. Driver side one appears to have different clips with an extended lever which has a secondary physical attachment to the handle. That means to be the problem, the secondary attachment doesnt allow you to pull it up enough to get the clip off the handle.

hmm if you are talking about the cables that operate the handle lever and lock mechanism, mine are held on with zip ties, before anyone has a go at this, it has never caused an issue for the 5+ years we have had the car. The normal way of course is to just lever them out carefully with a small flat bladed screw driver out of their holstered position and then you can remove the 'bullet end' from the holster on the lock or handle if you are talking about the handle on the pocket bit, i simply just had to remove the screws at the back of the door card and then a few staples holding the 'leather' to the door card. a bit of prying and i was away.

Damien, hes talking about the handles on the 'A pillar'.
When i took mine off what i did was put pressure on the inner side of where the clip is and slid top part upward and do the same for the bottom clip but this on goes down.
Both sides are the same, so it shouldn't be a huge issue. There is a little metal tab on the inside if you want to try and pry that open more so its easier to get off.
