Hey has anyone cleaned the black marks you get after years of having the rubber seals in contact with the inner door or boot? I hate the look of it and want to clean it off. Warm soapy water with the aid of a new toothbrush doesn't seem to work. Anyone recommend a strong chemical product that will get all this off and just show up the paint but not damage the paint?

ummm... metho and a rag? (not turps as it ends up oily)

Otherwise, a light cutter and polish?

That worked for me... not sure if it was the best method, but did the job and looks the goods

Wont metho damage the paint? Cut and polish might be the go, unless someone has used bug/tar remove or an organe based oil cleaner.

I've used metho before on the paint... so long as you then clean the area straight after, its fine... caused no problems on mine anyways.

but that was just my experience... I could have been wrong in doing that.... but it worked, and it came up with the desired result
