Just use some piano black coloured contact ! (yes the stuff your mum used to cover your books with) Then if you want to go back to wood.... easy peasy.
Shifter needs a colour also i reckon.
OR a nice modicoated centre console surround thingo.
But overall... very nice brother, im always keen to see what people come up with in this section.

Ty the carpet was $180, the pleather seat covers (Supra fronts and Soarer rears - E-Bay, Ultimate Auto Trim)$550 and paint $16 per can. I used three cans all up, but consider that I recovered the door cards and part of the dash with microsuede, so they didn't need paint.
Labour - who knows, I certainly didn't keep track of how long I spent...

Whats the ebay carpet like Lawrence?
Matt.
Not to the quality of the original carpet, but it IS new and lifts the cabin. I did not want to spray the original carpet, as the ones I've seen come out all crusty. Fits fine too.

Does it go over the stock carpet or replace it?
I removed the old carpet, but retained some of the underlying plastic supports and I installed some domestic carpet underlay. You could install it over the existing carpet, but that may cause the carpet to be too thick overall. The plastic strip that covers the gap between carpet and door ledge would probably not fit anymore, neither would the plastic seat bolt-covers.

Does it have a seam or is it one piece?
Matt there is a seam between front and rear sections but it's insignificant in my opinion. One could easily install the carpet and then cut through both front and rear sections where they overlap using a Stanley knife and use carpet tape underneath to join front and rear seamlessly.

Trent, I bought a fibreglass kit from Bunnings. It comes with matting, resin, hardener, a measuring cup and stirrer. Can't recall the brand, but it came in a black bucket with a red lid if I recall.

Lawrence, that is ridiculously good work mate. I have dyed mine and it hasn't flaked away yet but it's always in the back of my mind. I wouldn't mind having a go at this but how well can you stretch the leather around the side of the glove box and around the top of the centre console? Can you post some close up pics please?

Sebastian, you have to remove the glove box, the part you have circled and the bit where the key is. I used Microsuede which has some stretch in it, as opposed to leather. In any case, I sprayed the factory vinyl and the reverse of the microsuede with aerosol adhesive. I then left for 5 minutes, and smoothed the microsuede over the vinyl. I then used a series of small pleats to accommodate the curves, and glued the material to the reverse side of the trim, holding in place with a series of clamps until dry.
