This is probably the stupidest thing Iv ever done But I thought Id share my stupidity with you all.

This is the LAST EVER brand new drivers side FB05 window trim IN THE WORLD. And i bought it for a hefty price tag of $605, and surprisingly it only took 8 DAYS to come in from Japan.

Toyota are NOT manufacturing these anymore.

I walked away from a near new beige 1996 one in Melbourne on the weekend as I thought it was too expensive at $100.

Hmmm in that case I'm chuffed both my original trims have not ripped or cracked, though as a precaution I reinforced the plastic in the place they usually break using my old broken Soarers ones as a reference with fiberglass.

Would the tearing in these door trims be a side effect of sagging door hinges? As with the split in the door pad thing. Feels like it could be...

i dont think it would be the case matthew. i think it a combination of expanding and contracting after getting hot and cold etc etc, among other things. and plastic gets brittle with age..

Yeah that would be right Michael.

Also people leaning on them with their elbows or their fore arms while looking into the vehicle.

I tell people off in my Soarer for doing that!

Gary before you put it on you shouldve filled the underside of it with araldite/bodyfiller/resin to prevent it cracking in future
