Ok so i was planning on buying the old Recaros back but have hit a brick wall with a) finding the person who bought them as the rears were retrimmed with Recaro fabric to match the seats and b)they have generally tripled in price as a single front seat is going for around $1000 is what im finding. So putting that idea of Recaros on the back burner unless i find my old seats im contemplating doing two thing and thats where you come in.

So what would you guys do, would you rather go black stock seat from and rear or get black leather covers and get them fitted professionally so they look smick. The only problem is that my current spruce seats would have a different coloured base and back plate so they would have to be dyed i guess (im anti dye). Also the issue of heat in summer on black leather has me a bit scarted.

So what would you guys do, opt for the easy way out with just swapping my seats over to black stock items or go leather and do a bit of dyeing. Only reason i like the leather is that the central bits of the seats can be perferated so it bring them into the 21st centruy.

Cheers

Did you have Recaro's fitted and did you sell them David?

I have fitted front Recaro's and am slowly in the process of doing a black interior conversion.

I was contemplating the options for rear seating, either black leather or retrim in black suede to match.

Go the Recaros!

Matt.

Or you could do what I am doing and buy a set of Supra front seats which bolt straight in and are heaps lighter and more supportive and retrim both the supra seats and your stock back seat in leather.

THe supra seats are also lower and great for wearing a helmet at the drags, no more tilting my head sideways. Approximately 30 kg's lighter as well for the two seats.

Only thing with supra seats is that they dont flow with the interior. Well they do but they make it more sharp and sporting than the rest of the interior. I'd love to lose some weight but im really going for the all round package which either means to be leather covers or black stockies.

Supra seats rock! For someone who is 6'3 and has a sunroof the lower seat is great

Ok so besides the Supra seat idea what do others think about the other option. My mate just bought a new ford with black leather seats and i gotta admit they got pretty hot today even though it wasnt that warm outside. Any sun light turns them into a hot plate.

I just bought some faux leather seat covers from autobarn. $120 for the front and rear and i fitted them myself. All Black and look awesome. They look and feel real and in terms of them feeling hot, i haven't really had a day that hot since i put them in but it really won't bother me. After you get the initial shock of the heat on leather seats u adjust pretty quick. Just make sure that your bare skin isn't straight onto it.
The fitment was pretty good with them too. All the seats covers are 2 piece so one for the back and one for the base so you can make them fit how you want. For me the $120 was well spent. You can also get them in grey, or black and grey composite which looked pretty awesome, but the missus preferred all black.
