| I have a BA XR6 Falcon as a company car, and driving to work this morning I realised how similar the dash layout is to my Soarer. Does this mean the Soarer was ahead of its time?, or are the late model cars still trying to catch up? ( I prefer to drive my Soarer any day ) |

| How many ways are there to lay out a dash? The other way is to stick everything (well- the speedo) in the middle like Mini- now copied in Echo and X-Trail, or have stuff grouped logically on the driver's side. |

| I understand what you are saying Mike, I was more meaning dash shape, heater control panel position, radio position, cup holder etc. The way the centre section flows down is very similar. I didnt think it was a dumb statement. |

| Definatley ahead of it's time Ian, not just the dash shape either, the new Ford Territory ads are raving about the "amazing new" reverse cameras, didn't the soarer have those as an option 15 years ago!!? next they'll make a XR8 with electric seats... |

| I see Ford are going to fit some new-fangled camera thingy into the rear of the Territory Ghia to reduce the number of kids the soccer mums run over in their driveways. Shame Toyota couldn't have thought about something so advanced. Oh wait! They did! In 1991!!!! |

| Without wishing to appear sympathetic to Ford and their ilk, we should appreciate that they are bringing features formerly found on top-of-the-market luxury and GT cars into mass-market vehicles, just like ABS and (too old for most of you) rear window demisters! Still, I was as pissed off as anyone else when Holden trumpeted in the early 1990s the availability of an independent rear suspension on the Calais and as an option on certain Quasimodores, representing it as their very own major advance whereas I had been accustomed to it for tens if not hundreds of years on Euro cars. Remember? They even put little "IRS" badges on them |

Ban plz... Sif compare a Soarer to a crappy BA Ford. You do have a vague point there, except the Ford dash cluster is TINY small with analogue needles, the audio controls are ABOVE the AC controls, it has two cup holders not one, the arm rest isn't at all comfortable, the gearstick / handbrake look / feel tacky (Who wants momo in their cabin) and the friggen car doesn't come standard with a cigarette lighter, what is this world coming to |

| I will see if I can manage a photo tonight. Morgan, I am not saying it is exactly the same, but in general shape/layout is similar. Have you driven an XR6? Dont knock it until you try it. Handles and rides very well!! And I wish my Soarer brakes were as good. |

| MY Dad has a BA XR8, It's done 40,000k's and we both agree I've done more k's in it than he has That's why I'm so quick to bag it. Flimsy piece of garbage that it is. Only good thing about it IS the brakes, although on a 1800kg car, you don't notice them as good as you would on something lighter, heck, that barge makes me Soarer feel like a Pulsar.

| Morgan, dont get me wrong, I am not about to trade my Soarer! The Soarer is still the best car I have ever owned or driven, as an allround package. And I have driven Ferrarris, Jags and Benzes(My boss owns too many cars). Anyway, will attempt to add some pics here.

| Lincoln..the new Holden Barina and Viva is made in Korea by Daewoo. They are the Daewoo Kalos and Lacetti. Daewoo in Korea in turn market the Holden Statesman as a Daewoo Statesman.
