Now, this thread might not be as exciting as "installed 600hp turbo" or "how to build a 10 second car", but I think part of owning a luxurious Soarer is keeping it looking its best.
The carpet in my carpet was looking pretty grubby under the mats - the carpet at the edge of the sill trim was dirty from 19 years of getting in & out of the car - carpet around the pedals and footrest was very dirty plus some of that under-dash sticky foam had crumbled and stained the carpet badly... dark brown sticky tar in blotches over the spruce carpet - that sh!t gets everywhere and doesn't come off easily.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED - 50:50 mix of water and Britex detergent in a spray bottle - Large scrubbing brush - Nail brush - Absorbent cloth - Vacuum cleaner - Hair dryer - Rubber gloves
The Britex detergent this is the one you get when you hire a carpet steam cleaner from Coles etc - we had heaps left over after hiring one years ago)
METHOD 1. Pull out the mats and vacuum the carpet thoroughly 2. Working in small sections, spray on the water/Britex mix as a mist then scrub across, then along, the carpet grain using the large scrubbing brush - it should foam up a little but not too much 3. On tough stains spray some more detergent directly on them and use the nail brush to really work it in 4. Dab the section dry with the absorbent cloth 5. Vacuum the section several times
After you have completed the floor section used the hairdryer on full blast\full heat and work you way back and forth until the carpet is dry to touch. Drying is not necessary on warmer days or if you can leave the doors open for a few hours - but its freezing in Sydney today!!!
It took me a couple of hours but the carpet now looks absolutely brand spanking new - I washed the mats using some britex, then rinsed with hot water and into the washing machine for a spin dry - they look mint too
The britex is also very good at cleaning plastic surfaces so the door trims, dash and seat edges got a work-over as well

I was half way thru doing the drivers side and there was this massive difference between clean and filthy.. I thought, "should take a pic of that" but didn't - so here are some pics from 2 minutes ago

I reckon nearly everyone who has rented a place and needed to clean the floors has a bottle of Britex - buy a litre... use 2 cap-fulls!!!
Here is the only pic I have - just after I bought it - it might not look too bad but trust me, once you start vacuuming off the reside you wont believe just how dirty the carpet is. All of the stains around where your feet would be are gone. BAM!

I once bought a dirty mazda 626 and cleaned it with a britex. Sold it a little later (with steering rack boots done and a few minor invisible things to the buyer) for a hefty 1400 dollar profit.
Amazing how much a good clean could do. Before I cleaned it the car looked like it was worth less than junk.
I cleaned mine yesterday, passenger side mat took one bucket and is relatively clean, drivers side took 8 buckets and were all pitch black with dirt and is still not 100% clean, I am going to go over it with a steam cleaner later.
