Hi guy this might sound stupid but I saw a video of a guy on YouTube and he swapped his auto surround for a manual and fitted a gear knob, but I can't figure out how he is doing it without pushing any button, I am in the process of trying it but when the button in held down you can't turn the car off to remove the key is there a bypass to fix this?

where's the link to the video?
are you sure he didn't swap the whole transmission to manual and not just the interior. i was always under the assumption there where only a couple of auto shifters that could be swapped due to the fact you need the push button on top and for the overdrive switch. (levoc ones are the ones i'm thinking of)
i think the only work around would be disconnecting power to the whole car.

Yeah it was auto but it looked like a manual because of the manual surround and manual gear knob, I did that that's the easy bit it's making the selector select gears without using the button. And the power and overdrive is setup on switches in the center console, I really liked the look of it.

That's not the one it does not have a button, but mainly I want to know how to bypass the ignition so I can turn off the car and remove the keys with the button pushed in on the shifted does anyone know? Is it electrical ?

i still dont fully understand what your trying to get around with the ignition?
i don't think the gear box will let you have the keys back unless its in park. you can press the red japanese switch on the auto shifter surround which will let you move the gear lever into other gears WITHOUT having the keys in/ignition on.
