Just a quick update, the dye is starting to come off my drivers side door handle bit.
I dropped into an auto upholstery joint in blackburn today. They quoted me $110 to recover the handle including red stiching to match my seats.
He also quoted #260 per side to recover the entire door trim, including the handle and pocket in black vinyl. I will probably do it as these are the only spots that are wearing out. The dash and glove box and centre console are still perfectly black.
Also anyone who has dyed there centre console lid, I recommend you buy a cover on eBay, I suspect the dye will probably wear off this section. I think console lid covers can be had for like $50 just ask the guys selling seat cover sets.

Hey Wayne, can you drive around without the auto shifter in place? I know you can still shift by pressing down on the white bit but does overdrive get disabled or anything like that?
If so does a short over the 2 pins enable it again?
$40 is a cracker price
I also got my drivers door hinge of Daryl last night, looks to be really good quality, bit of a task to fit it though, gonna need some help from someone to help me line it up.

Yeah Ali, I just ordered a set I also ordered some new front wiper arms as mine are chipped and faded. Only $34 shipping from Japan aswell, I recommend people check the site out, has every single part for our Soarer's, especially good for getting the right clips and screws that have been lost over the years.
It can be pricy for somethings like auto shifters, seats, carpets and door trims, but reasonable on others like the pieces I bought.
I also have my Soarer booked in for a full bodykit at Jetspeed Melbourne next Monday. Not going to get it painted until late September. Slowly getting it perfect.

Hi Alistair, I had no trouble driving without the shift handle grip. As I recall (short term memory) it was in Overdrive. Anyway if you don't go over 100 3rd is OK. But I also had no handbrake (but spell check calls it an Emergency Brake)!!! I did have an old $10 wheel though..... Post it on Thursday morning, should get to Adelaide Monday, should get it back before Friday. Got my Reco Hinge from Daryl today, and all back together before dark, the hardest part is "getting to" the 3 plugs, and THEN pulling them apart, a PITA. My Trolley Jack makes it very easy. I will have to tweak it tomorrow, Daryl does such a good job on the bushes-tolerances that it's now a minute high, the catch/lock just scrapes. You may also be interested to know my new Tails leaked in the rain on the Cruise to Drouin, (all V8's I think). I have gone around with Silly Con where the 2 plastic half's join, and put them back this morning. For their sake.... they better not leak now.... I've also done a bit more on the exhaust.

Yeah, I will pull the shifter off, start the car and see what happens.
I'm not looking forward to changing the hinge this weekend. Did you need to use a bit of wood and carpet like Daryl suggested on your jack?
Yeah only one of my lights leaked, I pulled it out and it had a look and one of the little rubber tubes at the back was facing upwards so I think that's how the water got in. No issues since.

Alistair, Daryl came down to Melb. yesterday, dropped the Hinge and carpet covered wood off. He is picking everything up this sarvo on his way back to Sale. The actual hinge change over only took 1/2h. As above, the hardest and most time consuming part is dealing with the electrical wiring and plugs. And I think there is a 3rd hard to get at plug on the Limited's - mirror controls. I loosened the 4 door bolts this morning and re tightened them and the door is now perfect. (I had put a bit much lift on the Jack last night when trying to line up the bolt holes on the door. A couple of important points, DO NOT try to lift/support the door on the "pointy" bottom edge. As you know there is a 25mm strip with a rubber bottom edge, it will NOT hold the doors weight. Daryl's wood piece supports the 70mm wide bottom of the door. But it is on ANGLE, make SURE any support here DOES NOT slip off!!!!!!! Next, Remove the Hinge from the DOOR FIRST – 4 x 12mm bolts. Note the 2 stepped alignment bolts at the back, move the door to a safe place. Remove the 6 x 12mm bolts. There are 2 PLASTIC alignment pins there, they are only glued on, DO NOT break or move them, remove the hinge CAREFULLY, the 2 pins are a neat fit. Refit the new hinge up Tightly, then bolt the hinge to the door, note the 2 stepped bolts, not super tight until final check. Re install the rubber grommet and wiring/plugs and all the Interior trim and door sill trim. Gently close and check the door alignment, generally its about perfect, if not, loosen the DOOR bolts and “Jiggle” it around.......

Thanks for the write up Wayne, I think I'll have to buy a bit of wood and make up my own door holder.
I should be OK with the wiring, I have spotted the plugs and it's only two of them. Having a look at the wiring loom, it's wrapped up in electrical tape so now is probably a good time pull that off and inspect any damaged wires.
