This might be able to be answered easily. Most of the 6 cylinder Soarers, and the UZZ30 and some UZZ31's have the normal type of central rear view mirror, where you press the little tab on the bottom to tilt it to reduce glare at night. Most UZZ31's and I assume all UZZ32's have the fancy rear view mirror, where you simply press a button on the mirror housing to switch it to 'glare reduction' mode. From what I have seen, all mirrors attach to the windscreen in the Soarers, so are new 'fancy' rear view mirrors able to be sourced? If I acquire a Soarer with the normal rear view mirror, I would like to convert to the fancy one should I need to replace the front windscreen one day.

Under your roof lining you may have the loom already so you can plug and play. I've never stripped your series of car though. But that's were theres the loom in limiteds. Most second hand ones I've seen have been fine with only 1 bleeding mirror in about 10 but if you search on the Toyota part site you could ring Toyota and see if there available

Ah, I didn't realise the fancy mirrors were operated electronically. Back to the drawing board I go.

You won't have the loom, but they are 12v and you can take a power feed from the interior light.

I've got one fitted to my JZZ31 which never came with one, It just requires a 12v power supply.

Think the interior light feed is always live and completes the circuit when door switch earths, feed need to come from ign/or sun roof if you have one?.

The interior light has a constant 12v feed (hence why you can get a flat battery if the light is left on over night) as well as the door switched feed. Easy enough, with a test light, to find which is which :-)

To be honest, I had no idea how it worked, as I've said before, I've seen nothing like it. I'm surprised soarers have half the features they do, for a car their age.
