I plan on taking my centre console out soon, to respray it, and i was wondering what filler to use to fill in the flip out cup holder part and the volume knob parts. Something that solidifies so i can then sand it flat to the rest of the console and spray away.

could you do something like fill it with normal silicon or even the windscreen style stuff and maybe leave it about 10mm off the face... wait till that sets and then just put normal body work "bog" to fill up the rest and sand back smooth

Had nothing to do so I pulled off my knobs today.. Do you know the top knob/hole is about 1mm bigger than the bottom. I think Toyota did it for optical reasons (the surround curves in at bottom), Toyota really went to a lot of trouble with these Limited's.

I recently filled my volume knob. I wasn't able to finish it as the stereo went in before I was finished, but I used lightweight body filler. It's 2 part and goes off in an hour or so. I then went over with my dremel and sanded it flat, next I'll get some spot filler and build it up a bit more and finally sand it flat and spray it grey to match the interior.
It's a bit fiddly, but only an afternoons work to do and it's a lot better not having a useless knob there. The hardest bit will be getting a spray to match the trim exactly, will probably give in and have the spray painters do it for me.
