Thanks Jesse, just got to get some decent black mats to replace the grey ones.

The seat covers took me ages to fit the passenger one, but the drivers only took a couple of hours, once I knew what I was doing.

Yeah James I am very happy with it, you can check it out when you grab the cannons.

Does anyone have a email address for the guy on planetsoarer who does the shifter/hand brake/steering wheel re-trims?

I sent him an email, but it bounced back... :-(

Hi David,
It has nothing to do with Planet Soarer, that guy just takes Commission!! He does not do the work.

David, I got mine done in Charcoal/black even though all the rest is standard factory Spruce. I think those 3 items blend OK.
I sprayed the Air Bag and the 2 turret pieces.
With the Hand Brake boot, I would suggest you put the original boot under the new one to give it extra support along the top edge. There is a heigh piece of metal there. Just cut your old one down where need be, I glued it in place.

Yea Dave, I'm a very fussy 63 yo, but I was very happy with the re trimming job.
I have a wheel here if you need one.

I just noticed, looks like you have a Manual, anyway, I painted the 2 buttons black on my Auto Shifter before I sent it all to Peter.
When ever spraying plastic, not vinyl, I use Tamiya Hobby spray cans, it's made for plastic and Very High quality. For Black I mostly use Matt, as the Semi Gloss is close to Gloss.

Dave, they are about $12-13. But are very small cans, only 100 ml. Made in Japan. I've got about 20 part used cans here, have used over 100 in my time. I use them for hobby and RC stuff. Also I've used a lot of Clear on my car. Comes in Matt, Semi Gloss and Gloss. I never use Gloss Black or Clear on the car.
You can only really get it at "Speciality Hobby" stores, and I'm lucky, there are 2 in Boronia.
And you can't get it Online, the dangerous goods thing....

David
It's for spraying little model cars, not big cars. I only use it on small little bits, switches and things. When I got the "stick on" woodgrain set, I sprayed both side door switch assemblies before applying the sticky's. No you would not use it to do an interior re colour. Anyway for vinyl use the VHT stuff.

I'm using the VHT for the vinyl, but I want something that is hard wearing for the door switches (mirrors, windows, etc) as well as the plastics that are 'touched' more i.e. Gear hand brake, etc

Can anyone recommend something for that?

Also trying to track down somewhere in Geelong that sells Prepsol

I had a hood experience with Krylon Fusion matt black. Comes out very slightly grey looking but it makes bits look really OEM. I haven't had any issues with chipping.

Ive used VHT for switches etc, I actually, used scourer pads to clean, with a wax and grease remover, one light coat of plastic prime, then used VHT until covered. Now this isn't necessarily orthodox but worked well, still looks good several years on.

I've done a lot of my interior black now. Before I put it back in, should I 'seal' it in some way or just give it a coat of Satin clearcoat?

Yep, used VHT Satin black. Looks amazing

So I don't need to seal it. What about clear coat?

I would spray anything other than VHT on the vinyl. Clear coat would make everything go hard. I can't comment if you sprayed plastics with VHT as I used plastic paint. Didn't bother to clear coat either.

How current are those prices on Planet Soarer. Also are they current Aust Post prices. My Invoice, 11/04/2012.

I also note Peter Scott is supporting Daryl’s door hinges, which was Posted in 2007, and prices have moved on.
And I am also heralding Daryl’s nice workmanship.
I saw them on the Sunday Cruise to Drouin, but they now cost $255 and $100 deposit on ‘exchange’.
And I will be getting one soon, (and the deal won’t fall through).........
