Gday. I'm looking to redo my interior. I want to repaint/dye pretty much everything. What products are best for doing this? I am hoping to find a set of secondhand stock leather seats with working electrics so I can dye and install those. However If I cannot find them I will be needing fabric dye as well. Also has anyone tried redyeing the carpet rather than replacing?

Dyed interior;
Different products for different materials.
Your carpet you can use a leather dye through a spray gun, it will come out perfect. I recommend Fiebings Leather Dye, then was off any excess residue with soapy water.
Rattle cans will be quite expensive and will look shizer & turn the strands hard.

I used vht on vinyl and krylon on plastic. Krylon is expensive and hard to get. Think I've got one can left and finished all the plastics. You may need 1.5 cans. Vht will be at least 6 cans.

i sprayed my interior with VHT vinyl dye.
i didn't sand anything, just a good clean with some wax and grease remover (one that doesn't leave a residue) and then sprayed.
on the plastics i used a primer as i think it says to on the can. but i used the vinyl dye to do everything including the carpets, and honestly it's lasted around 4 years easily. the only spot that shows wear is where i always rest my elbow on the center console lid
+1 for the VHT vinyl dye, though it is $16 - $20 a can and as mentioned will probably need at least 6

Has anybody attempted masking and spraying rather than removing everything? If so how'd it turn out? Obviously I'd take the seats out, but spending two hours masking and cleaning, then spraying in tact sure seems appealing. I'm sure some people will have issue with that question but before you jump down my throat, I get that its not a perfect plan and things will come up uneven, but the convenience aspect is enough for me to consider it. Worst case, I have to pull it apart and start over...

I did the bit around the top of the door without taking it off. It took at least half hour just to mask up each door but they damage easily taking them off. Turned out good. The door card is literally a 5-10 min job to take off so its actually easier to do it that way. Also the top of the dash I just put cardboard and newspaper and tape and sprayed it. It's suppose to be a difficult job taking off the dash. Everything else including centre console is easy enough to take off.

as mentioned above i also left the dash everything below it i took out. if you use some good quality masking stuff not $2 shop masking tape it'll come out fine.
left the same color roof lining so can't help you there
