Heyya,

I know this was mentioned in a previous thread, but there was a last week during Melbourne's mini-heatwave, my entire roof lining has caved in!..

I'm unsure about using the syringe method, tho have thought about it before, as it's the entire roof.

Has anybody:
- had experience with removing the entire roof panel and then using like pvc (maybe another glue?) and a rollerbrush to do the lot? .. Please don't suggest glues with heavy fumes that may cause me to crash!!

- Maybe sent it in to get it done professionally? if so how much?

Thanks,

Andrew

Andrew,
A trimmer job should not be more than 80 dollars, but it’s quite simple to do your self.

Go to your local auto parts store and get KH Instant Tack Spray on adhesive its 18 dollars for a can.

To take the lining off you will need to.

- Take out the sun visors there are two screws each side plus one on the plastic seat, depending on the model there is also a small fiddly jack for the mirror light wiring.

- Take out the centre light it’s a matter of just popping it out (again depending on the model if you have a LCD rear-view mirror there is an even fiddlier wire jack that must be disconnected as it loops around the lining)

-Take of the trim on each side the grab handles on the front slip off with a clip just lift the end of the trim, once you slide it of (you will need a flat head screwdriver to lift the clip) the screws behind will be exposed you will need a Phillips head for that medium size.
The rear grab handles are just a mater of lift handle remove small cover and unscrew once again medium screwdriver Phillips.

Remove trim by tugging on it gently and in sections.
The lining it self is mounted by 4 plugs on each side , use a 10mm spanner to slide under neath and lift this way you wont damage them.
The lining will now be relatively free slide it back as there is a u shaped plastic hook right in the middle that hangs onto a support bar running along the roof.

Get the trim out the car (im sure you will figure it out with out crushing it)

Lay it flat and peel the lining from back to front the is no need to take it off completely as it most probably has not come off at the front.

Give the shell a bit of a clean with a dry rag/vacuum cleaner just to get rid of any dust.

Spray the glue on and immediately apply the lining on (now do this a section at a time about an 8th each time) make sure each section is nice and flat.

Let it rest for an hour and put it all back.

Hope it helps

If any one cares to add something to this please do.

EDIT: I really should have take photos of this when i did itand made a tutorial BUGGA
