Total Recoil. High Street, Thornbury / Preston.
Awesome work. Carbon fibre cone, new rubber suspension, new spider network and new voice coil.
Yet still retains the original frame and magnet and is still 2 ohm. Very efficient too. Around 91.5dB sensitivity so the base amplifier drives it just fine.

Hi Tobias, I have pulled the doors apart to fit intrusion bars on a couple of Celsior's, and the stock speakers were all in good condition. The only reason the rear one goes bad, is because it is exposed to direct sunlight, which rots the cone, or the foam edge support.
There is a 4OHM 8" speaker available from JAYCAR, costs $40.00. sounds OK. Need to cut the mount ring of the old speaker, 10 min's with an angle grinder, and a 1mm thick disc.
cheers Chuck.
ps. You guys are going to start calling me cheap Charlie!

just cut a thin piece of MDF and bolt it ont hen cover it with grey automotive carpet. or put a sub cover over the hole so the bass from teh boot can enter the cabin.
What kind of options were you expecting to hear?

OR, Anthony, find someone who's got a pov-pak Soarer, that DIDN'T come with a sub-woofy thingo, and get the BLANKING-PLATE, that DOES come with a pov-pak Soarer, and ask them to kindly give you that piece, when they decide to fit an original(ish) parcel-shelf sub woofer.

If I didn't have the factory sub in that space, I reckon I'd get a nice piece of perspex, get it etched with a logo (either the gryphon or the Lexus L), and backlight it. I wonder how hard it would be to get the standard cover recovered in something (maybe dye the stock cover) with either of those logos in a different colour, and backlight that? Hmmm...that would be cool. I wonder if it's legal.

Following on from the rear parcel shelf coverage, has anyone tried to put a larger sub (12") under the high-mount brake light/standard sub cover? If so, hot did you get around the little clips that hold the cover down?
I suppose the easiest way would be remove the brake light altogether, but I though I read on here somewhere that it was illegal to remove it if it came standard on the car, but I have been known to be wrong before.

i dont have the sub in my car (because some cheap bastard raided the stereo before he sold the car!). but i have just left the sub cover in its place. Whats wrong with just leaving it there? you could never tell there isnt really a sub underneath
