Perhaps you have a different factory stereo? There are many different models/types. Our '95 has the "premium" unit, with the rear sub-woofer, these units cannot be used in cars without the sub-woofer, apparently, like our '97 (both 3.0 n/a).
mine is the single cd player with the sub. mike since you have the same player as mine, did the wiring look like my above pictures. did you replace your head unit. any help will help.

Sorry mate, didn't replace head unit (had enough fun putting one in our other import, a Wizard) happy with the std one, other than the crappy Japanese FM band.
damn. was working on it today, found the positive, ignition, and ground wooo hoo. now just need the bloody speakers.
was doing some trial and error, the green plug i thought that had the speaker wires, well i connected the speaker wires from the deck to these and...no sound.
if anyone can get a wiring diagram for the 3 ltrs will be great.

You should not use a 9V battery for chasing speaker wires, a 1.5 battery is adequate and a 9V battery can cause too much damage. Like Richard said, you won't find any speaker wires up front unless the stereo is the absolute base model with no CD.
