After realising the dodgy DIU door trim repair I thought I'd go to a retrimmer who in turn put me through to Ralph at Mobile Vinyl Welding (wasn't very mobile but none the less) He is up Newcastle way and I thought was pretty well priced for the work done.

This is the repair on my passanger door which was broken the day before the Canberra meet which someone of you's seen. Anywyas here is the repair pictures. Cost me $150.00

As you can see the vinyl is a little bit funny BUT it is better than a crack in the trim.

This might seem like a stupid question, but couldn't the weld/repair be covered in another layer of vinyl (or even leather)? Isn't this what is done when people change the colours of their interior? I realise that the whole section would have to be done, and that the other door would probably also need doing to match.

Sorry Mark, but having seen those pics, I think I would have shelled out the $330 for a new door pocket. But then, I'm a fussy bastard.

They more then likely could Mike but the photo's make it look worse then what it is.
You don't see the bottom of your speaker grill and i don't notice the top anymore.

Fussy = Expensive Ollie I'm not exactly the richest person at the moment. I'm only a shop assistant who works 5.5 days a week to clear just over $500 a week.
So $330 for two doors sounds better than $330 for one. Especially when they were both pretty bad.

Once they were put in the car I haven't noticed the funnyness to the vinyl. :-) I'm just happy to have firm doors again (something I never had on the drivers side it feels so weird.
