Gday all.
Well after a world of heartache with K-line, I have finally got my Soarer on a boat. It will be arriving in about two weeks, and complied a few after that.
Anyway, its got me thinking. What sort of interior parts are in demand from an upholstery side of things?
Once my car gets here, I will be using it as a template for various things. At the moment Im planning:
1) Producing new plush pile moulded carpets. 2) Lexus badged floor mats (front and rear) 3) Possibly refurbished steering wheels, or alternatively new wheels. 4) Custom Leather Gear and handbrake socks. 5) Leather interior kits including Lexus Embroidery. 6) Custom Centre console lid kits (fit your self or exchange), leather or vinyl 7) Trunk kits, including dynamat if required.
Just wondering if there is any particular interest in any of these, or something I havent mentioned (BTW, I manage a motor trimming business and thats why im looking at the interiors)
Cheers Ben

Carpets and drivers' seat for the leather equipped cars are the most common requests I hear. I'd be in for two of each Personally I'd want Toyota logos rather than Lexus but let's not start all that again!!!

I would love new carpet also, Thinking of slowly changing the interior colour of my car. Though I don't know what would be a nice colour for my interior with white/blue perl paint job. wouldn't mind a cream or black

This is slightly of your topic, Ben, but might give you an idea what people are interested in. I'm heading off to Sydney in a month and thinking of taking two door trims off and taking them as luggage (freight rates from here are ludicrous- I sent back a work terminal server recently, to Melbourne, $471!) to have them worked on in Sydney. No reply as yet from the trimmer with the Portuguese name.
My thought is to have the crack in '95 trim fixed and that section of the trim covered in new vinyl or leather. I'm not sure of what colour to use-perhaps a complimentary colour to the dark cream/light brown these Ivory bits are, like a light cream, rather than trying to match the actual colour.
I got one of those UK handbrake covers in, it's not a perfect fit and it's a dark brown not matching anything else, so that might also be on the colour change list. Ditto the '97's console lid which is now on the '95- for some reason it went shiny and turned green! (I suspect because the owner rested a sweaty forearm on it??).
So I'd be interested in ideas for the console lid.
It would be interesting if you could come up with fixes for the console interior, Ben. The lid seems to crush the black console liner where the rubber stoppers are- the liner ends up taking a lot of weight, especially if you lean on the lid (as you do) ending up cracking the liner.

In relation to floor mats, not that we're after a set as ours are good, there would be some demand for Soarer-badged stuff too I'd imagine. They certainly look good when in reasonable nick. The raised Griffon would be awfully hard to copy.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Im sure that I could come up with some of the things you have mentioned, although, when my car does finally get here, then I can have a closer look at the problems you mentioned.
PAUL - Rear sheepskin. It can be made. Again, when the car gets here ill measure it up and follow up.
ROB, MARK, BEN and KIM - Carpets Im still looking into and ill let you know how this progresses. Once arrange, colour wont be an issue.
MARK and JOSE - Leather covers would be complete replacements. Again, im thinking of making new leather for mine when it comes, so ill have a look then.
MIKE - The big prblem with the location of the cracking is that from the centre of the crack, there are almost 360 degree angles comming from it, meaning that covering it in a vinyl "may" result in bunching or creases. Again, Ill have a play with it when mine gets here. We do plastic welding here aswell so ill see if there is a way for me to get around it. If I can, then maybe we could operate on some kind of exchange basis.

Ive always wanted to convert my interior to black/tan (change all the poo brown bits to black, as it is currently the stock tan/poo brown interior) Except ive never been able to get the poo brown plastic interior bits in black. I know you can paint them, but there is sections that need light to get through ( the aircon and factory stereo knobs and labels on the centre console). You'll see what i mean when your car arrives. I'm not sure how many others would want this too?

Duuuhhhhh I just realised what the centre console part is. I wasn't thinking before I typed! I need one of them too, mine has some black marks that I can't get off.

Maybe we could all pop round, like a cruise and talk about what can and can't be done, possible colour matching and the like. Maybe Mel could talk about paints and the like at the same time.

Have a mate restoring a grey Galaxy Herse (plates [DEAD CALM] I think he said), all done except the interior. Just wondering if you have a shop? And if you'd be interested in looking at the job. He doesn't want anything over the top, just good quality. Do you have a website, or pics of your work? Cheers
