Took the glovebox out of the '95 Soarer today on the way to replacing the dash trim with woodgrain. here's what I found on the back of the glovebox- the dust has formed into these interesting patterns- from what I have no idea but must be something to do with condensation from the aircon in Japan.

That only happens on 95 models Electrostatic charges ( Microcurrent ) attracts the dust to the fine imperfections, you may say !

At first glimpse of those pictures I thought it was a pattern etched into the plastic, but dust?!! I'm with Cihan - it's freakin' me out! Looks like it would be easier to clean though, you only have to wipe half as much. Also Ben - spot on with the eBay description.

I thought it was etched too, as I glimpsed the first of it at the side of the glovebox. It had even been covered with interior cleaner (second shot) but it came off reasonably easily. As Neil said, it may be electrostatic. This car was full of dust and pollution.

You get the same patterns inside the dash unit... looks like its super-fine pollution dust, doesnt seem to matter how old the car is

ON the beaches up here, you can pick up bits of crustallized sand in pretty much exactly the same shapes and numbers as per the pics. I think the crystallized sand is formed when lightening strikes the ground. The main ones are MASSIVE but the further away from teh point of contact, the smaller the crystals, until you get to about that size.
