18's will be within the boundary Bill.... If they look at them, if you are allowed, then 18's are fine. IF you went 19's then you would be in trouble. Just because you install 17's, wont make it any different than 18's as far as police attention goes mate. Just so you know :-)

I am after some new wheels but i dont want to go bigger than 17's because of the 2 inch difference law.

What law?

2" relates to the rim width not diameter, I think it's time to stamp this bit of misinformation out of existence.

Yeh I know they wont make a difference in legality but they will make a difference in the pocket
As i mentioned above one of my mates replaced a single tyre that was flat and he paid 400 just for the 1. He has 19inch rims. And he told me see billy (he calls me billy) that is why i told you to buy 17inch wheels. 19's are just too high maintenance.

So if he paid 400 for 1 tyre that means he would pay around 1500 for 4. That is about what new 17's with new rubber go for LoL.

And with the rim size thing. Does that mean i can put on 24 inch rims just as long as they are not more than 2 inches wider than stock?. If so that contradicts what all the tyre shop and all the internet forums have told me

Internet fora can be wrong, as Michael suggested. The rules are around width and changes in radius (or diameter or circumference as you please) of the wheel/tyre package rather than on the wheels alone. You are normally allowed +/- 3% but that can be less.

The trouble with a 24" wheel is simply that you would need a 5% or 10% tyre profile to meet the radius rule.

WTF $400 for one 19" tyre? Did he get super duper cool tyres or something? $400 sounds more like what a good 20" tyre would cost.

Steven is on the money.. IM running Nangkang Ns sport II's on my 18's.

235/40/18's on the front cost me $ 155 each
265/35/18's on the rear cost me $ 185 each

I purchased these from 7 day Wheels at Granville on Parramatta road.

Want to know if these tyres are good?
At the moment, My car with limited mods holds the 2nd fastest 60 footer in the club for the 1/4mile on street tyres.

They are great in the dry and wet. No need to fork out big money for $400 + tyres IMO.

I think it was actually like 370 or something but to me that is 400 LoL.

How much would 17's go for?. I know it varies but would they be around $120 or so each as in around $500 for a set?. Is that around what you would expect to pay?.
