Ben: info on this 768hp engine? How do you work out that power? Has it been engine dynoed?
1/4 mile times or dyno queen?
I see no reason why the 1j couldn't rev just as hard as an rb26. I don't know the stroke or rod/stroke ratio for rb26 though.
The rb26 head is supposably very good though and I think the 1jz head is designed for low down torque and when we start whacking big turbos on them, the head and cams need to be looked at to shift the torque curve up.
1jz747 is the highest hp 1jz in oz that I know of and the Hardcore racing soarer. Both trap 134 & 135mph in pretty heavy cars.

2jz rips apart rb26's they are doing 800hp with stock internals i like and rb26 to hold to that....
I'm not going to argue with that, all I'm saying is people here need to stop being so one-eyed. I know it's a Soarer forum, but that doesn't make every other car/engine crap.
I know some run 2JZ's with ~800rwhp on stock internals, but that doesn't mean they all will. I don't quote cars in Japan, nor cars in America, all I will use an example is cars that I know of here in Perth. For example, an R33 GT-R over here has been running 533rwhp on stock internals for quite some time now. While I've seen a 2JZ let go with less than 350rwhp and stock turbos.
1JZ/2JZ motors are great, they have high tolerances, but they are not indestructible.

That theory is slightly flawed as there are more skylines getting around that soarers and supras combined!
I met a guy today that is running a RB26 with 386 4wdkw, he has also spent just over $34k on the motor, and another $23k on gearbox, brakes and suspension. Once you start getting into the upper eschilon of performance (like what I have just mentioned) the reliability of ANY motor is increased as you strip it down completely, then build it specifically to handle that power. Take a look at the JUN supra that they used in the ultimate speed challenge, anyone care to guess what that motor would be worth?

Yes, engine just came back from Sydney last week. Has also had extensive head work and a rather aggressive cam setup. Basically outside of the block, I don't think that there is much toyota stuff left in it!

Neither, he is aiming to have the fastest 1J powered vehicle, hence the bonnet, boot, fenders, dash and doors have all been carbonfiberised. With the new rims, cage and seat, the dry weight is just a tad over 1000kg. Once the car comes back from the USA for its high speed run, it will be de-tuned slightly and used as a drift car on the pro circuit. He already has a sizeable cheque from Tectalloy to support these activities, heck I'd even advertise their product for that amount of money!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey Don thats not fair i used to drive a BMW i often considered using my indicator but thought the little people would be scared by the flashing lights so i thought it best just to swerve without notice.
Back to the topic, Nice clean soarer, pithy about the motor.
