I'm no suspension expert, but I have driven a land Rover Discovery with ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement). It was the diesel, so pretty slow (only 101kW) but it went through a series of roundabouts with hardly a hint of body roll. Isn't this system similar to the UZZ32 or something different?

I have seen what you are talking about and I'm not quite sure. I don't know the technical details but I have looked under the bonnet. They still have springs where an active doesn't and they have adjustable height in the rear for towing.

My first impression was that it acts like an airbag to adjust the rear height when the spring is compressed when loaded but with fluid and that it was not used for the handling side of things but I could be wrong.

The shocks might have something similar to the TEMS.

I don't think there where any oil lines to the front struts but I could be wrong on that one too.

BTW Hayden, does the Testarossa have a heater A/C and a radio.

Damian, as far as I'm aware the rear airbag setup on a Disco is nothing to do with the ACE- it's the self-levelling arrangement found in 7-seaters. As I recall ACE has no anti-roll bars, they are replaced with hydraulics.

Mike I'm not too sure on that one, I didn't think the new ones had air bags at all, just the hydraulics. Perhaps it depends on which model, different options perhaps.

Just a interesting of the topic note of the Rovers, they are very strange, I think at least. Some things are soo hard to get to on the car it is crazy whilst other parts are a dream. It seems to me like two people laid it out; one a retard (graduate engineer) making everything impossible to work on and the other a mechanic years experience with really big hands leaving lots of space.

Very strange I thought.

I was not actually talking about aerodynamics. Sorry, casual expression which I normally avoid. I am not wishing to enter a debate. No-one is saying crazy things here.

Damien, I ran electrics including a Corally F1, which was good once I got the hang of the hard-to-define suspension. I also loved my 1/12th pan cars (Associated RC12, Corally sp12, Trinity Switchblade). They were little screamers with a decent motor; aero wedges. I have a 1/10th Corally pan car (C4.1) but have never built it up. I engineered my son's Stock and Class A cars to series victory. We ran Corally, Schumacher and Xpress in those classes but have not raced for several years now.

Rob, are you selling the 512TRs?

Sounds like British motorcycles I worked on 30 years ago. Rover even managed to retain the oil leaks on many models:-)

When I got my one, that same day Rob took me for a drive in he's Supercharged one. Power as soon as you put the foot on the pedal. No waiting for it to come on boost. It just hits hard and keeps on pulling hard right thru the rev range.

I find these come after the panicked look you get when you are about to hit a corner or roundabout 40km/h faster than they would usually.
