Hey guys
Going for a holiday in a couple of weeks and I am thinking of taking the big beast up to surfers, I am also contemplating taking the soarer too (hehehe).
Now i have read numerous threads of Soarer's being red lined for a few hours across country but I am not that crazy.
What do you guys think. Should I take the Soarer, The magna, The festiva, The AU falcon or the VT stato.
I dont have too much of a choice. I dont really Drive the soarer much because it is my baby and I try to cotton wool it around. I probably have not even racked up 5000km in the almost 2 yrs of ownership. So that is turning me off putting a couple of 1000's km on the dial (if the bloody thing worked).
What do you guys say. What would the effect be on the turbos. I must say driving it for 10 hrs non stop is not on the top things of the list I wanna do to her.

Exactly - These cars are ment to be used.
If something gets worn with further usage, just replace it! And at the same time generally look after it and keep it clean - you will have no problems then! Obviously costs though..

Bill, if you want to be very cautious just take it for a general oil change or just service it if you want. At least it'll be using fresh oil and had a little check for anything that may go wrong. If anything looks like it's on it's way, just replace it. I did this before I went to Melbourne, and it worked out fine for me.
You may want to invest in a car bra as well, unless you have an aftermarket front bar on your car. They're very useful in preventing paint chips and bugs from destroying the condition of your bar. Make sure you get a good one though, as the wrong car bra may just end up damaging the paintwork.
Bill, I haven't done the Sydney to Surfers trip but I've done the Sydney to Melbourne a few times. Just make sure the car is in good running order... on the highway the engine will be doing less RPM (in most cases)... just watch out for them bloody wombats.

The Soarer is perfect for long-distance cruising. If you will not use it for its "reason-for-being" then you may as well put it on blocks and peek inside the garage door when you want a thrill.

Bill ,take the soarer you wont regret it.A long trip is where the car excels.I was a bit wary but the missus and I did 3500 hundred k's last xmas from Sydney,Surfers,Gympie ,Towoomba plus other travelling in between. It never missed a beat. This year were adding in Yeppoon as the youngest son moved up there.
I've done Sydney to Surfers/Brisbane twice, Sydney to Melbourne 6 times and Sydney to Adelaide all in the last 18 months in the Soarer. The car is suited to longer journeys. Comfortable interior (for 2 people over that distance). Just make sure you pack plenty of CDs for the trip so you don't get bored (although Syd -> Surfers is the most lively long distance trip you could do).

3 weekends ago I came back to the Gold Coast from Sydney in the new one. Magic drive, easy as you like, especially seeing as for the first hour or so I was familiarising myself with driving a turbocharged car for the first time. About 9 hours driving time, 11 hours elapsed time and still pretty fresh at the finish.
People use their Soarer for all sorts of things, but in my opinion they are suited best of all to touring/cruising. Last time I did that trip was in a Tarago which is a nice enough car in its own way, but I was knackered at the end of it.
In your position I wouldn't hesitate - take the Soarer.

Bill I don't think you will enjoy your holiday up here too much if you bring your soarer because you will constantly be thinking about the great drive back.

It got the turbos rebuilt a couple of weeks back so it is serviced and all that. And I have only driven it I think 3 times since then (probably 6 weeks that I have had it back).
I don't know. I am not scared about it breaking down. It is a toyota after all. I just don't like to put her through that. To me that is like a marathon humping session that goes from 10am to 1 am the next day. I would choose who I would do that with. If the soarer was a girl I wouldnt do it to her. But the common whore on the other hand has been around so much a few more hours of prodding wont hurt it much (actually it may kill it).
If I do take it up I may be hitting speed cut a bit though. I think the festivas speed cut is 75km/hr. Well that is as fast as it will go anyway.

Bill , Take the Soarer. Iam doing Canberra to Brisbane in a couple of weeks time. Might see you on the road. My problem is which Soarer to take ????? TT OR V8 ???????

Bob, go for the V8. You'll appreciate it in the long run. Invest in some neckrests as well, since they really do help on long trips. No point taking the turbo since you'll be travelling at a constant speed.
As for provisional driver's going interstate, I'm definite it's legal. As long as you're in their state, you just have to adhere to their road rules which would be similar to ours anyway.

Hehehe
One of my mates went to Mexico last year and got done for doing something to a tram. Hahaha. It was funny when he was telling me. I was like what did you get done for. He was like fcucked if I know. And I was like did you pay it. He said I had too.
The poor bloke still does not know what the hell he did wrong. But he is never driving through Melbourne again hahaha.

Why do you even ask ?
ANY car should easily be able to be driven for 10 very easy hours at a time. The Soarer is a very reliable car, so why would there be the slightest problem ?
Highway travel is very easy on the car, low revs, smooth roads, very few accelerations and brakings.
Unless you don't trust the Soarer, I would definitely take the most comfy car, and none of the others come close to the Soarer.
