From what I've seen of the high octane fuels and ignition advance, you usually just keep piling it in and when it starts to roll off the power, you bring it back a peg or two.

Thats because ideal ignition advance gets lower as boost/power increases. If you keep advancing the timing you loose power and induce knock.
If your ear is in tune to the mechanics of the car, after a while you can tell when you've gone overboard with the timing. The engine noise changes as you over-advance, from experience it sounds "dry". Hard to explain but worth testing!
-- Shane good job with the car. Unless its been stripped and checked, for all you know the block may not be standard at all
I agree your tuner is doing a top notch job at keeping that thing rolling run after run, kudos to him.
Good luck, and hopefully you can pull a 9 before a rod goes banana!

Hmm, if the 2nd car is a 1uz powered soarer then if you wish to race in Sport Compact it has to run quicker than 9.99 to race in extreme class. Otherwise, it is only traditional ANDRA meetings and either super street, super sedan or super gas.

the other thing is most cams cages wont pass andra regulations. each ruling body thinks the others designs arent safe.
cams use a thinner tube than the andra ones and the welding and bolt in sections are different as well.
and as chris said the 1uz wont be eligable for sport compact unless it in extreme in which case you must run slick tyres, they wont allow street tyres in that class

Yeah shane, Well done !!!
Just curious, whats been done to your a340 and where'd you get it done. Im about to go single with a worked engine and I have 2 options, manual v160 conversion or keep the auto but get it rebuilt and made super strong. I love the cruising factor of the auto so thats the option im leaning towards.

That is absolutely amazing mate, well done.
There is a big difference between talk of quick times, and actually doing it.
I know a lot of high hp cars that never get that ET they are 'supposed' to do.
Could you shed some more light onto the gearbox build? What exactly have MV done to it and at what cost? I'm sure I'm not the only one considering getting them to build a box for me...
Tell me about it Paul... I run 383kW/514hp to the rear wheels, but only pull a 13.1. Trap speed is 123mph though which indicates a 10.6 with the current weight of my car, but damned if I can get that power down with a manual and street tyres.

123 mph wont be enough for a 10 simon unfortunately. i ran 125.9 mph on my first ever 10 which was a 10.78 with a very quick 1.54 sixty foot.
Paul, as for the box, you need to call michael at MV. i dont get invovled whats inside it, i just ring him we have a chat about what i wantthe car to run and he does his job. i had my box built over 4 years ago now so prices have changed greatly as the demand has goen up and thhe boxes are more developed now with the knowlegde gained from my car and seans crown.
i believe a box build and convertor same as mine is now around the $3500 mark
