Does anyone know what the maximum tow weight is for for a Soarer? I noticed on an earlier thread that someone had fitted a tow bar, which had a 1000kg limit. Presumably there are towbars available which have a higher limit than that (although they may look gross) and up to the maximum tow weight (which should be closer to 2000kg, up there with Falcodores).
We are thinking of buying a caravan when we move back to the mainland. The Soarer wouldn't be the primary tow unit, but it would be nice to be able to use it in an emergency.

The upper range of the tow weight (ie your 2000kg mark) would be dependant not only on the towbar/car setup, but wether or not the trailer has powered brakes.

Generally rule for a safe easy drive is no more than 1:1, the laws used to be only 1:1.
New laws stipulate 1.5:1 but going much more than 1:1 things can get hairy even with brakes. If you have electric brakes that work off the tail lights and not the mechanical type with a cable that is force by the tow bar then it might be ok.
I haven't towed anything with a full brake set up just the mechaical/hydrulic cable type and they do something but nothing compared to having a 4WD up front in the first place.
