This car is a fair bit rarer than a GTS skyline.

It's even rarer than a active soarer.

Ahh, the old Mazda Roadpacer AKA Toadracer. It's right up there with the time they put a rotary in a bus.

The Toadracer came about partly because GM wanted to put a rotary into the Corvette.

I don't get it, if they were a sales failure when new, how are they now desirable collector's items??

because they are rare. The delorean (spelling?) was a total disgrace and they are worth more now than ever. Anything odd or peculiar, including spectacular failures can often become collectors items if unmolested. People go nuts over beer cans with spelling mistakes, misprinted stamps etc. I don't get it, but they do.

Simon, everywhere I read says that is weighs 3500lb exactly, which is funnily 1575kgs. I reckon thats a misprint, or a general mistake, even though I found 20 odd sources that say 1500kgs.

The reason I reckon it should be lighter:

Kerb Weight:
Belmont Sedan: 2921lb (1325kg)
Kingswood Sedan: 2965lb (1345kg)
Premier Sedan: 3061lb (1388kg)
Monaro Sedan: 3170lb (1438kg)
Monaro LS Coupe: 3062lb (1389kg)
Monaro GTS: 3178lb (1442kg)
Belmont Station Wagon: 3119lb (1415kg)
Kingswood Station Wagon: 3151lb (1429kg)
Premier Station Wagon: 3238lb (1469kg)
For V8 engine, add 90lb (41kg)

Mianly due to the fact is kept a standard interior too from teh factory. It was loaded with a lot of pollution gear, a dictaphone, central locking and some other crap, but I still dont reckon they could possibkly have been that heavy. In the meantime however, I owe you ONE BILLION DOLLARS!

Who knows Aaron... maybe someone should buy it and weigh it for us

Since the UZZ32 weighs around 200kg more than a pov pack TT, the extra gadgets in the Roadpacer might actually make up that extra weight.

Hmmm well, an average UZZ30 would have some where around 162HP/Per Tonne..

These Roadpacers make do with a superb 85HP/Tonne! That was 30 years ago remember! - they would be much more tired and guttles now, Gosh 85hp/tonne! my bloody Honda Rafaga got a reasonable 125hp/tonne or so.. Sure technologies have improved but its not the point! Then theres the torque factor ratio but lets not even go there!!

Just some quick facts of these Roadpacers:
135BHP (100kw)
138NM (102Lb-Ft)
1580kg...

Hmm... may as well find the torque ratio for a laugh... Ah 87NM/Tonne when new - The average soarer v8 would do 220nm/tonne way down in the rev range. Remember the power band in one of those Mazdas would be rather high up.

Oh & fantastic fuel economy when NEW of 9 MPG!!! or 26L/100kms

Ah I love cars like this they are so entertaining to read about!
