Just went and decided to go and finally clean up my headlights so they look all impressive and such. My cousin said he wanted to help so I showed him the tutorial off this site and let him do one side whilst i did the other. He has managed to scratch the sh*t out of the headlight on his side so now I have one clean clear headlight and one clean scratched up one. Is their something I can do to restore this or do I just need to buy a new light? They both look better than they did before but still looks a bit messed up on close up.

Golden Rule of Soarer Ownership: Only do things all by your self!!!
Thats the way I go with mine, It just means Ill have to get what ever I want done myself but It's fun and at least I know it wont be done wrong!
The only thing Im worried about is the alarm installer man damaging something so Ill try assist when he installs, that being the drill of the dash panels for the LED warning light, bonnet tamper trigger fitting etc...

Rub it down with 1500 then 2000 grit wet and dry. It may take a while depending on how deep he has scratched it but they WILL come up great after that is done and you give em a little shine up with some plastic polish.

Just goes to show how education has deteriorated. At my high school I was taught this as well as injection moulding and pvc welding and wood and metal lathe work, welding (arc and oxy), laminating with real wood laminate. We wound a solenoid to make our own electric engraver and on and on.
How long ago was this?? Well Pen, pop quiz. When was the last year you could matriculate in SA without English as one of your subjects? ( Peter shudders )
Anyway I have yet to apply this technology to my LH light as I had a rag with some thinners on it one day, wiped off some grunge on the light and it wiped the yellow right off. That was easy I thought, will note that down. However, minutes later the thinners all evaporated and the surface appears to have crazed look in the sun from a certain angle, cracks due to surface shrinkage I suspect.
Conclusions 1. Education has deteriorated. 2. Thinners is no good for the type of plastic soarer headlights are constructed from. 3. As usual if it is too easy it usually has a gotcha somewhere. 4. What Perry said.
