Well Im about half way through servicing my old soarer.

Today I finally got around to doing the bulk of it. I replaced the flushing oil & filter with fresh oil and a Genuine Toyota 20004 type filter.

Flushed the Trans with 8 liters of Genuine trans fluid, Cycled through the gears while filling/draining a couple of times over. Filled the trans fluid up - went for a drive, changed it and then filled it again & drove it....

And wow what a difference my soarer has no more clunky changes! Its fantastic, but still not 100% right probably about 90% fine just a tad more flushing needed.

Im going to get one more 4l tin to do one more change of the fluid then use the other 1/2 to fill the trans which will remain till 20,000kms or so when the next change is due. :-) Oh one question whats the maximum fill capacity of our autos from what Ive read its 2 Litres? Is this correct?

I also got around to installing a new thermostat, gasket and top bolt gasket, the old one was in need of replacement as rubber seals where breaking off it and getting hard, there was also some gunk building up around the center parts. Fortunately Inside the home where this part lives it was clean as a whistle, no stains or any build up of residue. :-)

Another thing I got done was the Serpentine belt, the old one was okay but was showing slight signs of age etc..

Finally a new Air filter, was much needed as the old one was getting pretty dirty. Its great to have a nice white filter! :-)

I also ordered a New Drivers door handle as my one broke sadly after 3 months with a crack! $80... not too bad Ill be picking it up from Toyota tomorrow and installing it!

Next up to complete,

Change Diff oil
Finish flushing Trans
Coolant change/flush (once the warning light for low radiator level problem is solved)
Flush Power steering
Replace Hydraulic fan fluid
Bleed brakes and top up with new fluid
Fuel filter.
Replace Spark plugs (8x :-()
Lastly Grease up ball joins, hinges etc

Great bit of fun! :-) If any one could answer my question about trans fluid capacity that would be great cheers.

hey.. sounds like your doing a better job already than the toyota dealer down in Ryde :-) because we took our soarer to get all the fluids flushed and the service done but now since we got it bake we have had to already take it bake once and now waiting to take it back again tomorrow because the car dosen't idle normally and there is a miss as well as not pulling like it used to on the lower revs. so keep up the good work buddy ;)
