Hey Guys,

I am searching for a car for my girlfriend. We both love the Soarer but she says she'd prefer something a little smaller. If there was a 4 cylinder Soarer then that would be perfect.

I'm not overly interested in importing/complying some exotic luxury car for which there is no local support for, although my arm could be twisted.

She says she doesn't want a 'bubble' car, it has to look cool and we wouldn't mind it to have a bit of pep too. Something like a SSS Pulsar or older style BMW perhaps. I dunno. Anyway i'm looking for opinions on which cars to look at.

Budget is around the 10k mark give or take.

Thanks!

Toyota Corolla AE92. They came with a 100kw engine in the SX, and the seca versions don't look like little bubbles. Should be able to get a very nice one for about 6k.

go a corolla AE101, 10k might get you a early 90's model with the same mod cons as a TT soarer.

3SGE or 5SFE celicas, awesome build quality.

An AE101 is another low maintenance, high quality car that can be very easily styled, and has good modern lines and interior design over teh ae92. As its for a lady, shell go for the 101 no worries.

Whatever you do, get a toyota. Nissan electrics are all crumbling into dust by now!

How bout an AE101 with a 4AGZ conversion! Plenty of nice front bars, kits, options, and all on the cheaper side of things as there are so many suppliers.

I like the mid 90s Celica, looks like a mini Soarer, especially from the front.
Not badly priced, and locally sold, so no parts issues.

Corolla Levin or Trueno. Plenty of go-quick models to choose from, maybe a little common (at least here in NZ) but handle brilliantly, parts are dirt cheap and easy to get, dead easy to fix in the unlikely event that something breaks, run on the smell of an oily rag and are moderately comfortable.

I'm with Pen... My vote is a Sera (I think parts are easy as they are common with the Paseo) or a mid 90's celica (get the sports model not the SX).

Mirage?? We were going to get a Sera for my missus but we were worried about panel parts, not engine parts.
