| A study somewhere, California I think (not looking it up at the moment), showed that red light offences were markedly associated with later accidents whereas "light" speeding was not. This gives point to Benny's comment. |

Not yet Callum, instead an unmarked car follows you through the intersection pulls you over and impounds your car under the anti-hoon laws...... |

Unmarked cop car follows you through a red light? That sounds safe, typical cop thinking. |

Well i went for a drive during the day today after 8days on a mine site (Where safety is taken appropriately over the top!) and i must say i am disgusted at how dangerously people drive on the roads. I cant believe i havent previously seen how dangerous people actually are on the roads, but its horrendous. For the first time EVER whilst driving, i didnt feel safe for one meter of the journey (~1hour round trip). |

Yeah we do Callum, they are those yellow boxes sitting around most major intersections and if caught running a red light and speeding you will get done. They flash twice and as you may notice at these intersections there are 2 white lines that follow the stop line, this is basically a method to measure the speed, they calculate the distance by the time between the flashes to get a reading of how fast you were going. |

| The two flashes are also there to see the aftermath of a crash if one happens. I saw this back in high school, a cop came over to do some educating speech to the P platers in yr 12, and they showed various pics of diffrent intersections, and how on each one the first pic showed the car cross the line, and the second it showed say a motorcyclist hugging the front bonnet of the car that has just run the red light... |

| Say you can't prove who's driving?!? What BOLLOCKS!!! According to the traffic law, you are legally liable if you can't say who was driving your car as you should know who is in possesion/control of your vehicle at all times, so that excuse just won't fly in court. |

| I have resigned myself to pay the fine. I was going to ask for the photo. Apparently it costs $40?!?! How does that work?? What if you werent speeding or there was some other kind of cock up. That would mean they are getting money out of you either way. I worked it out and i will cop a $350 fine and 4 points. |

| *Let's see if I understand How the world works lately... * If a man cuts his finger off while slicing salami at work, he blames the restaurant. * If you smoke three packs a day for 40 years and die of Lung cancer, your family blames the tobacco company. *If your neighbor crashes into a tree while driving home drunk, he blames the bartender. * If your grandchildren are brats without manners, you blame television. * If your friend is shot by a deranged madman, You blame the gun manufacturer. * And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilot at 35,000 feet, and the passengers kill him instead, the mother of the crazed deceased blames the airline. * If someone are speeding and driving trough red light and get caught, do you blame the police. * I must have lived too long to understand the world as it is anymore. * So, if I die while my ass is parked in front of this computer, I want all of you to blame Bill Gates...okay. |

| Ill ring slater and Gordon and organise a class action. I find two quotes that pretty much sum up the way the world functions, at least teh lower half anywhere. "There are lies, damn lies and statistics" MarK Twain. This sums up alot of peoples attitudes. They believe everything they hear, and if that stats say so it must be true? Combine this with: "If you think about how gullible or stupid teh average aussie is, half the population is even more retarded" which really bring the two together. On TV the other night, on one of those so called current affairs programs, I saw a story on deaths in hot cars. One thing that fkn amzed me, was a woman whos child had been locked in a hot car, and she actually was dumb enough to ring the cops and wait for them to arrive, where they then assessed teh situation, made some enquiries over teh radio until they came up with an outstanding idea to 'Break the Window' OMG, revalation!!!! What an idea!!! FOR F*CKS SAKE WOMAM, BREAK THE GODDAMN WINDOW! DONT STAND THERE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO ARRIVE!!! The retards that constantly require babysitting and require society to tell them what to do and how to live is the reason why things are as bad as they seem. Whatever happened to discretion? Yeah teh law says you cant smack your kids. So f*cking what? If I caught my son settign a homeless guy on fire or threatening to kill someone, or bullying some kid id beat him harder and longer than he beats his own dick. Im sure all of us in this generation and earlier have at some stage got a clip over the ear for acting up, a twisted ear fro backchat, and the belt or other implement if you really effed up!! No, child abuse sint advocated by me. As I said, discretion. Taking away a 12 year olds computer time isnt gonna teach him a lesson. Nanny state laws and political correctness. GTCC!! ps: OUR (Kiwi) government is providing a NANNY state, as in: WELFARE DEPENDANCY! (We ARE a nation of SHEEP!) Sadly, I suspect that the Oz government is insidiously doing the same........you are NOT a nation of sheep...........Stand tall, and be counted! Aussies do NOT, in MY opinion take crap from anyone, and now is not the time to start! BE STRONG!, GO HARD!

Someone voted! Wooo! P.S. What Don said. People need to take responsibility for their actions and then a nanny state would never have any reason to exist |

| I think it might have merit...say you have kids or relatives at home and the car is a shared resource that happens to be in your name. You are at work, someone takes the car for a drive while you are away and gets a fine which comes in the mail weeks later. Unless they pulled the person over, how can they lawfully fine YOU for it? The law says you are innocent until proven guilty. In New Zealand they can only take points off your license if you are pulled over, not if you are done by a camera, as they don't know which license to take the points off. Should be the same here I say. |
