G'day to all! first of all, I'm glad to join this forum and I would like to say "hi!" to everybody.
I'm looking to purchase a 2nd hand soarer. (Fell in love with it when I saw one on the road!) I found one at the moment and would like to get an inspection on it first before buying.
Would you guys recommend that I go to NRMA, Niall at Botany, or a trusted mechanic recommended by my friend? I guess my concern is if it is necessary to get the soarer checked out by a soarer expert or if any good mechanic would be able to perform the inspection as well? Also are NRMA inspections as good as they claim to be?
I just wanna get a well looked after soarer that will not break down on me in the first week after driving it off.

Someone with Soarer experience will know to check things like V8 P/S pumps etc which someone else might miss. They will have also seen enough Soarers to assess it's condition pretty quickly, and not get too excited about things like Blinky Dash which some people may tell you requires a new dash for a couple of thousand dollars.

i used state roads (tel 1300 737 450)rather than NRMA cause they have a paint measuring thing..and they scan the car..it will let you know if there is previous accident damage that has been repainted (the paint will be thicker)..they are also cheaper than nrma (only $160)and will go and inspect for you at the time you decide (rather than NRMA 'sometime between tuesday and friday' response'). I think it important to ask them for an inspector who is familiar with soarers. Nial is a fair mechanic tho but think of the cost and hassle.
