Does anyone have any pictures of a Soarer with the stock 1992 rims (16") that have been painted white? Just thinking I might just get my current wheels painted to match the car, but need a picture of one that has already been done. If possible white factory rims on a white Soarer.
Also how does one go about painting rims so that they don't flake and look horrid after 6 months?

Pure white rims on a pearl white car looks crap imho. I've seen it on a few skylines and it looks ok, but when I went looking at rims and they stuck a white set on my car, I didn't like it very much.
As for the actual painting process; You'll need to take off the factory lacquer (paint stripper?), then I would sand blast them. Followed by a good soapy water scrub then a chemical clean. Then etch prime them, prime and paint.
OR...
Take them to a powder coater and say "make these white."

I went through a white wheels phase, just before my gold wheels phase.
This may sound a bit hillbilly but I wanted to check how it looked before committing. I used masking tape to tape up my wheels, painted the tape arctic white, and took some pictures. White wheel phase ended about there and I pulled the tape off and was back to my gunmetal grey phase. No harm done.
Oh, by the way, now I'm in a Gloss black wheels phase. I will probably stay here as I am sick of stripping and cleaning these wheels.

/\/\/\ Word. Dont fart around with spray paint. I got my rims powder coated for $160 all up, the finish is PUURFECT. They do all the sandblasting, priming and coating. And I can scrub the crap out of em and theres no wear. Also, with powder coating, it covers all areas including the curves evenly, as opposed to paint which is thinner on the edges/curves.
