On the way to dinner tonight, had a WRX want to run me.
So we're there at the red lights, he's nudging his nose forwards, I just sat idle, turned off the air con and flicked the transmission into power mode.
The light went green and we both took off, neck and neck - only to about 20km/h, then the Soarer was gradually pulling away from Mr. Rex with his burrbly exhaust and "wooshka" blow-off valve.
Too bad Mr. Rex, you just got smashed by an almost stock Soarer... hahaha!!!
It's only the second race I've had in the car in the first week I've had it. It's the first time I ran a WRX AND WON!

I hate to burst your bubble but either he wasn't trying hard or he couldn't drive. Even a stock rex will cream 90% of Soarers of the line. How do I know, I have a modded 02 rex as well.

Especially not in a v8. I've got a mate with a 00 model rexie, I drive a povpack soarer (ie the quickest stock v8), and mate, I tell ya, he's gone before I can blink. Might have been a stock Impreza with the bodykit bolted on maybe?

Most stock Rexies will 60 foot in the 1.9's at the drags! Modded ones will go 1.8 and the phsycho ones 1.7's.
But i have seen them go as bad as 2.3-2.4 for the ones whom dont know how to drive. Which is what all the V8 soarers at WSID were doing for the 60 footer on Wed night.

Josh i dont care what the above say, good on ya!! the soarer may not be the fastest cars on the earth but they sure are nice, WRX may be a sweet ride but i have been in propper "traffic light drags" with other cars and nucked them, glad your enjoying your ride.!!

Yeah sorry dude, have to agree with the flow here. In my stock TT I dragged a WRX wagon off the line. I had 1 passenger, he had 3 plus a couple of mods and still pulled on me. But then we had 2 runs from 80'ks and it was a different story.

Yeah a WRX that is running properly even with a half decent driver will beat a near Stock V8 and most likely a stock TT.
Although my auto TT was never quite stock i would beat a few but get beat by alot.
Now its Manual and a few more mods i havnt lost to a WRX yet but i always get beat by two mates who have WRX STis i beat them everytime on rolling starts and they beat me everytime on take offs. (You just cant compete with AWD cars with power on take offs, unless your at the 1/4mile where you have the space to run them down)

its true we all no that a wrx will beat a soarer. but that doesnt mean we should be stealing johns thunder. if hes happy with the performance a v8 soarer has to offer thats great that hes enjoying his car and he likes the way it drives. best of luck with your soarer mate hope you keep on enjoying your car

What thunder? I'm sorry but a stockish V8 soarer will not beat a WRX away from the lights, or in any other form of face (possibly excepting those freaky actives!). Get over it already.
