I am 22 and insured through shannon's for $1200 on a 94 V8 agreed value, but lots of other companies wouldn't touch me, the thing you will find with shannon's is that it also depends which operator you speak to, for the WA guys there are a few guys off antilag who work at shannon's and are very helpful

Yeah, all depends who you speak to at Shannon's. I'm paying 1200 bucks, which includes all my mods. Low excess too.

Yeah, sign up to antilag and search for Shannons thread. There are a few Shannons workers there listed. I originally called them up, and because of my mods they wanted under 1500 bucks. I spoke to the guy after, he mucked around with it and got me down to 1200 bucks so am happy. :-) His nick on the forum is WRCJosh.

Thanks I might have to check that one out myself!

Oh yeah, just remembered. The reason why he could bring the premium down is because he put down on the policy that the car is not driven daily or something, only a couple of times per week (usually the weekend). I catch public transport to work most days so could be another thing you can enquire about with the insurers. $300 bucks reduction is quite significant.

If you Search, rather than relying on this thread where people of different ages and driving records, living in different places, with differently modified cars, some garaging the car and some not, wonderfully produce different prices, then you will find some useful information from the manifold previous threads on insurance. You will, most importantly, find references to different insurers not yet mentioned on this thread. I have no plan to mention them now because if you can not even use Search you do not deserve to insure cheaply.

It had already been said three times before, Aaron. I am also commenting implicitly on those among the responders (few this time) who happily mention their own experience, inevitably unique, rather than offering serious guidance. Shopping around remains the best strategy for buying insurance and I know of no-one on the forum selling it.

Weird, in NZ its usually easier & cheaper for a young female to get insurance than a young male, at least in the past. I guess with media reports on girl racers on the increase things may be changing.

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG BUTTON!!!

Seriously though... it is to remove your key out of ignition when you have stopped the car in any gar other than P [park]. I believe it also can release the gear stick into the appropriate selection under the same conditions.

I'm still finding out all of the tricks I;m sure there are more to come.

P.S. Even though I had already learnt what it was for I still used it as an excuse to ask some hot looking Japanese chicks what it meant... whilst they tried to explain it didn't lead to anything more fun tho... lol

I searched for about an hour earlier this morning but couldn't find anything.

Why can't I get any mature responses? Also - How is everyones fuel economy? I average 12.7L/100km :-)

Just a tip Earl, if anyone with over 1000 posts asks an obvious question like that, it's a sure bet they are just being silly. This can usually be confirmed by checking who the poster was.

What's the best per/100km litre value you can get in a '92 V8?

Does it consume much more fuel cruising at 100kph, or does it not make much difference because the revs are still low?

Peter hit the nail on the head guys, I was just having a laugh.

I'm well aware what the red button does, threads about insurance / fuel economy / the red button pop up ALL the time, it was a poor attempted humor hehe.

Sorry.

I average 12.0L/100km around town, 10-11L/100km when i do mixed highway and town, 17L/100kms on the weekend.

The fillup for the last soarer cruise, i clocked 660kms for 72L even with the 30min great ocean rd sprint to apolo bay and back, thats 10.9L/100kms

I'm fooling with the idea of leaning the AFR's off boost to lean cruise (15.5-16:1) at the flick of a switch by altering the oxygen sensor output to the ECU.. It won't relearn then :-)

Back to insurance, i know 20yo people on 3rd party paying $400 with just cars for their soarer.

Yeah, it's easy to pay $400 for 3rd party, but they sting you an extra $100-200 for Fire + Theft cover which is what most people have.
