Ok when I drive in the rain or even over a puddle my feet get wet with intermittent splashes of water. I can also feel a LOT of hot air blowing on my feet when I push the pedals in (especially the clutch pedal). On a hot day it's the WORST because the entire driver's side footwell is like a sauna. My feet get so sweaty that they slip out of my thongs and off the pedals.
Any ideas? I think there must be grommets missing somewhere which are plugging up the holes behind the pedals. Also someone mentioned something about a 'firewall'? Any other manual Soarer owners having this problem?

Sam, the firewall is the sheet of metal between the engine bay and the cabin.

There is obviously a hole somewhere, perhaps pull the carpet back and have a look?

It's actually recommended to not wear things while driving for the exact reason you mention - slippage.

Damn, I make one lousy typo and it all goes wrong. :-(

It was meant to be "thongs" as in foot wear.

Sorry about that.

I'd reckon nude feet are better than feet with things.. oops thongs on them.

As for the dripping, it might be a problem with the heater core.

Sam, check the grommet is still secure up the top right side of the accelerator pedal.
Because you are manual, they may have used this grommet to run boost lines etc through to the engine bay..
If you remove the right inner platic gaurd cover abouv the wheel, all will be revealed.

I think half the problem is no plastic inner guard.

Guilty I'm sorry...I can no longer access this site at work due to the powers-that-be calling it "non work-related". And as I sit in front of a monitor for 8hrs a day at work, it's usually the last thing I feel like doing when I come home :-(

Thanks Neil and Dan - I think you both may be right. I guess there's not too much I can do about it then if the previous owner has done this eh. Unless I take it to someone and get the boost lines redirected...?

Or find a grommet, cut a little hole in it for the boost lines, and put it back in place.

Don'tcha love bosses that seem to think work should resemble some kind of prison?

Thats one of the reasons why I left my previous job - they deemed that 5% of our time spent on personal email and web browsing was unacceptable and implemented nazi policies to stop it (random email checks, web auditing)

I recon all they did was increase resentment and decrease moral, which probably lead to decreased productivity rather than the 5% increase they were hoping for. Either way, I wasn't sticking around to find out, so they lost one of their senior developers at the very least.

Total. I got a corporate wrist-slapping during my annual staff review last year. My boss had printed out an entire month's log of pages I'd visited and laid it on the desk in front of me in a "please explain" manner. As though visiting these sites made me a poor employee in need of reprimanding. Despite the fact that I've won two awards for my work with this Department and always meet deadlines.

What really grinds my gears is that staff are given a monthly web usage quota which by far exceeds the internet needs of most staff. My personal usage is a drop in the ocean compared with what we're "allowed", so what's the big fecking deal? It's not like I'm moderating a child pornography site using my Department's server.

Thats why I've been here now for nearly 6 years - they just leave you alone so long as the customers are happy and you get your work done on time. How it should be if you ask me - makes me happy and when I'm happy I do good work.

I have a similar problem, but when I pulled the carpet back, I saw about 16 different reflective bits of light from 16 nice little bastard holes someone has previously drilled into the floor of my poor Soarer.

I now have a plastic sheet under the carpet to at least limit the damage any water can do, but when I can be bothered I will be getting a larger single hole drilled and grometted, and the smaller holes welded, grinded and filled in.

If it feels like a sauna i would definately check heater lines. Hot and steamy seems like the symptoms that would come from a hot source of water, but that's just logic... Cars are not always logical.

It just feels like hot air coming directly off the engine. Can actually feel it blowing on my feet way up behind the pedals where they actually bolt on. I used the term "sauna" because that's how my little feet feel after ten mins driving on a hot day, but the air itself isn't moist. I haven't had a chance yet to pull the carpet back, but watch this space for an update.

I am not quite sure how all the ducting is up there but could it be that the air ducting has come adrift allowing warm air to circulate onto your feet? Warm air that may normally just get redirected out and away when you do not select it to come out the vents?
