| Vinh, yeah my bad. I thought the whole world revolved around NSW for a second lol. High powered 6's too? So basically P platers will only be allowed to drive Volvo's? ahahah

Or Hondas Queensland is also going to start following NSW's lead.. I really don't care though, as I obviously got my licence before these lame laws were even concocted. It's quite funny to see my little cousin and his mates all talking about Honda's these days, and they've grown to believe the myth that a turbocharged Honda will be able to beat most turbo cars.

Vinh, If its done right anything is possible ^ ;) I dunno how any Soarer can beat a WRX STi 04 and higher of the mark. Ive tried time and time again against my mates STi and he absolutly smashes me by atleast 2 or even more car lengths of the start. Even if my car was Auto i have no doubt he would still beat me by a car length easily of the start. Side by side rolling i beat him everytime. Theres not a whole lot in it. I used to think EVOs were pretty crap aswell. My other mate with his EVO 8 got it slightly modded, with exhaust, up the boost and abit of retune. It goes hard now and i used to be able to beat him easily now he beats me my mate in his WRX STi. So it doesnt take much to get the EVOs moving. So i simply cant Understand how a fairly stock Soarer weather it be a TT or V8 can beat a WRX STi? Who ever was driving the STi simply has no idea or simply wasnt even racing to begin with. WRX is a totally different compared to the WRX STi.

The laws change so the simply find other cars to work with. The entire thing is a total shambles, yep I agree shane there is a hell of a lot of extra car in the STi, priced just as much as well but you get what you pay for.

This kind of reminds me of this video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsNsUd3viZ8 Obviously the Nissan stuffed up his run, or something went wrong with his car, or the driver was crap. Doesn't mean the other car is faster, despite what the moron in that video claims. |

3 cylinder, 1.0L turbo... 100psi boost??? Must have some freaking strong internals, admittedly the second run it appeared to moving a a reasonable pace.

A lot of the bullsh#t I beat a Bugatti Veyron etc claims can be settled at the newsagent. Pick up a copy of wheels/motor/etc and have a read of the 0-400m or 0-100kph times and then reflect if your last timed run ON THE STRIP compares. Other wise use a bit of common sense and line up against the car you want to brag about at the local off street meet. It either go one of two ways... Oh God I'm starting to sound like my father!

A standard V8 beating a WRX... 100% NOT POSSIBLE if the WRX was really trying. I think the best a V8 Soarer can do, fully stripped out with a MINES in it is about 14.3 seconds for the 1/4 mile. Go look up a WRX, it's so simple. Most WRX owners are just plain pissed off at everyone and their grandmother racing them and they don't even try. Every clown in town used to take on my S2000, I just ignored most of them and took off the way I normally do, quite quickly. So whilst they thought they were having a race, I was deciding on what track on my CD player I wanted.

I agree with Jeff. I have a pretty good NA V8 but I know what I can take on if I am so inclined and when not to pretend. Most people know not to race all the time. As Jeff suggests, you get selective, and start using what you have for a purpose rather than because it is there.

Ben, I read Wheels/Motor all the time. I think there is only about 6 cars in there that will beat mine now. But.... On Wed Night at WSID there was an Audi RS8... Its best time was 13.3 and the owner/driver was very dissapointed. As was the BMW M5 ( Brand new) his best time to date is a 12.8!

It is a pretty well known fact that demo cars supplied to the press are sometimes "optimised" to get more favourable reviews. I remember one of the big mags put a boost gauge on a new turbo terror and found it was running 6 or 7 psi above the spec sheet. Also a lot of the reviews use semi professional drivers (or pro race/instructors) to do their testing. So sometimes the figures are hard to repeat but they are a good guide.
