Hey, Im thinking of swapping in the 1JZ-GTE this summer, and I am wondering, if i were to use the crankshaft from my 2JZ-GE engine, would that give me any reasonable power gains, let alone work? Thanks for your help. -Brian

Did you mean use the whole bottom end from your 2JZ-GE with the head and turbos from the 1JZ-GTE? You'd need a larger head gasket to decompress it, but otherwise there is very little different between the two motors and this conversion is becoming quite common.

well, i was thinking, since the 1 and 2JZ have the same bore, but the 2 just has a longer stroke, would the crankshaft alone act as kind of a stroker kit.

Brian, I can't conclusively say that your idea won't work. But I do know that the 2JZ block is taller than the 1JZ block, which makes me think that you would need custom pistons and rods if you drop in the 2JZ crank alone.
If you need new pistons and rods for the 1JZ with 2JZ crank then why not use the pistons, rods and block that you've already got from the 2JZ?
And answering part of your original question - there should be gains to had with more low down torque, boosting earlier, as well as a bit more top end than a 1JZ-GTE.
EDIT: I was half way through posting this then got interrupted - that's why Lew beat me to it.

Did a bit of research ages ago on this and apparently Toyota knew what they were doing when they increased the block height by 25mm as the rod/stroke ratios were not very good if you were to use 2jz crank and custom rods and pistons to fit in 1jz block. Could be done but I would be doing the maths on it first. If you need custom bits, probably easier to go 1.5jz.
