Was just reading through the new ammended terms and conditions that I got sent with my yearly bill and noticed a very interesting ammendment.

Just Car Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy wrote on Monday, April 30th, 2007 - 07:34 pm:

Your Contribution to Repair Work.

If the repair of your car leaves it in a better condition than before it was damaged, we may ask you to contribute to the repair cost.

I don't know if other insurance companies have a similar clause in their policies. Sounds particularly open for getting shafted by Just Cars though, I mean my car is already 15 years old, of course if you replace something its going to be better than it was before.

Also, for all us Australians as well, just remember that with Just Cars, your not covered for loss or damaged directly or indirectly caused by, arising from or connected with: the use, misuse or existence of nuclear weapons or the use, misuse escape or existance of nuclear fuel, waste or nuclear materials or ionising radiation or contamination from such fuels, waste or materials or combustion, detonation fission and/or fusion of nuclear fuel or nuclear materials.

Remember that if you decide to vote for John Howard, hehe
Also, important to remember if you park your car near a anti-nuclear protest, technically your not covered for damage.

Hmmm, that totally sucks in regards to the repair issue. I don't know if its truly NEW though, most insurers in my experience ask you to kindly notify them if there was any prior damage, i.e. to the 97 front bar and foglights that were actually 92 and faded!! hehe....

Just cars are more appropriate for the Nissan crowd with those "P" plates. =P

So I suppose whoever you are insured with is the best right?
Just Cars has been fine for me, they were one of the few who would insure me when I first got quotes upon getting my Soarer on my P-plates.

Luke, the one i am with is actually pretty for the sort of car i have now...

Looking at changing to Shannons for next year as i barely drive the car 1ce a week these days.

Shannons also give you a free windshield every year and you pick your own repairer.

I doubt any car is worth more after a crash than before, no matter how well the repairs have been done.

Individual parts may be in better nick but the overall value of the car will always be lower after a crash.

Shannons would be a good option then Callum. You need to get out and do some more burnouts though, where's the Soarer love?

Really Leon? I got insurance through HBF. Premium is pretty decent to. I currently pay around $840 a year. Excess used to be $200, but after the write-off I also have a voluntary excess of $500.

Yeah true that Leon, I could only get insurance through Just Cars too. How much do you pay for comprehensive or 3rd party? (Which ever one you have)

Luke, The car is too busy gathering dust for me to get out with it! ;)

I put $1000 worth of new tires on it last year as well, and they are already down to nearly needing replacement. WTF?!

Just Cars - what a joke...I remember getting a quote a couple of years back....

You cover customised rides right?

"Yes"

OK, so I've got custom paint, leather interior, engine mods, stereo etc..

"No Problem."

OK, how much?

"type, year..etc...$1200pa"

Whoa - really? But you will cover everything right?

"Yes, except we can't specifically cover the rims, stereo, or leather interior"

Huh? So if someone steals my car for the rims and stereo, leaves it abandoned on bricks with the interior ripped apart from extracting the stereo you are saying that none of that will be covered?

"Yes, that's correct"

And for the privilege I pay you $1200pa

"Um, yes".

Yeah Just Cars is crap. Honestly, as soon as you reach a certain age which will let you access other insurers, go for it. First I was insured with Just Cars, year later I went for HBF, now I'm with Shannon's. And since I don't drive it every day, Shannons reduced my premium by like 300 bucks! Although it does cost me a little bit more than HBF. Only reason wehy I had to quit HBF coz they cover no mods at all.

Speaking of which, hey Will, I'd check with HBF if they will like your exhaust mate, otherwise they will refuse to pay out if they do find out after the fact.

Hrm Just cars covers all my mods, as long as I list them. Admittedly there is a separate excess on my wheels of $200. Raised the premium a little too. Shannon's wouldn't touch me because I was under 25 and I didn't even think of HBF :-) (considering they may not cover mods I won't even be thinking of it)

Just cars Full Comprehensive costs me a shade over a grand. That's with a relatively clean driving record and no accidents.

Daniel, I have checked their mods and provided that it is legal then they generally will cover it. How many mods though is a different issue.

On this forum I regularly advise people to get new quotes annually rather than simply renewing with their current insurer.

My renewal from Elders for my Soarer arrived yesterday and I have found I can save 10% this year by switching back to Shannons whereas last year Elders were better. Last October the IS300 stayed with NRMA when renewal arrived. In between, we switched our son's car from NRMA to AAMI.

There is never a single best insurer. Your personal profile, your car and where you live will fetch different results. Insurers keep changing their prices and promotions, just like supermarkets. They will also do bulk discounts if the timing is right for you.

You would want to make sure that if they charge you cause your car is worth more, that they put the agreed value up by a corresponding amount.

A few months back I was sent a renewal by just car and they wanted $1900, so I dropped back to third party. A month or two latter they called me and asked if I was still interested in full comp?, I said yes but not at that price 5 minutes latter she offered it to me for $1300, $300 less then I payed the previous year....

It must have been the combination of my mods then. The exhaust they could probably put up with. HBF didn't like the steel wheeled turbos and I think the EBC tipped them over the edge too.

Most places allow three mods without asking what they are. Wheels are included in that.

Weeeell, for someone who has been huning around for about one year to find ANYONE to insure the car I'm pretty pleased. NO, they don't insure after market additions but they DO insure. .... I was rejected by 3 other insurance companies because my stereo was too expensive (they didn't have to insure it, just allow it).

JustCars did. They even allowed the 4 mods to my car (and any other road legal ones I wanted to make). I was chuffed. My previous insurance company canceled my policy because of the stereo. Shannons would not insure the car due to it being business registered.

JustCars may not be the cheapest but they are EXTREMELY convenient.

Anyways, JustCars fills a hole that no other insurance company seems to bother about.
