Hey guys..I just got my soarer about 2 weeks ago... I had an oil change and the fluids topped up. Every once in a while I notice that the car is REALLY sluggish Like this morning for example:

It was cool over night..maybe dipping down to 10 degrees celcius..but by the time I go to work it was probably around 15. Anyways..the drive is about 10 min and even by my work it almost felt like the turbos were non existent. Normally around 40kph when I put the pedal down it really pulls..then it barely accelerated.

Now at lunch I took it to a parking lot and tried to warm it up a bit..about 10 min in to accelerating gently, it started to feel a bit better.

When I drove it home..it was ok, not great.

Also, when I put the pedal down my RPM shoot up to about 5 then the turbos spool and accelerate. Is this normal?? I thought they spool around 3.2 RPM?

Is this because the engine is cold??

Thanks guys, any help would be great!

Your auto box may be slipping. If you have a manual, then your clutch.

I assume by 5 you mean 5000rpm??

Graham...that is almost what it feels like. Like something isn't gripping right.

By 5 I meant 5k. I don't know if I just didn't notice it before..but it seems as though it shoots up pretty high before getting any real boost. I thought I remember it coming strongly at around 3k rpm.

How do I get the slipping to stop?

Flush the tranny?

Make sure you have the fluid at the right level. OR give it a flush.....But if it is slipping that bad, It's probably going to be a rebuild.

If that is the case, dont rebuild it. Too exy. Grab a 'low kms' second hand.
There are plenty of people around doing manual conversions who are throwing out their auto's.

There are some diagnostics you can do to check the solinoids etc inside the box. I cant remember off the top of my head but ill see if i can dig something up for you.

The boxes them selves are VERY advanced electronically and should be able to tell you what part (if any) has failed when it has some clean fluid.

Easy to tell if your fluid has been fouled is by pulling out that dipstick and giving it a snort. If it smells burnt and has a brown colour then something is up, perhaps a clutch pack?
Ideally it should be candy red and tempting to lick (NB, dont lick it.)

Hey guys,

I think I made the problem seem worse then it actually is...

Maybe I am just paranoid..but today was warm and it performed great all day. So I guess it was just cold and hadn't ran for 15 hrs or so.

Thanks for advice!
