Does anyone know if the boot lock button can be disconnected without affecting the boot release button next to it.
Or does anyone have a master key which they can have cut and sell to me. I am so sick of having to take apart the dash to unlock the boot after someone has accidently pressed the button thinking it is the boot release button.

Any help, as always, much appreciated.

thanks
Louise

i think you just have to remove the locking button from the 2 switchs that open boot/fuel door.

Take out the lock mechanisim about $40 later your local locksmith will copy you a key that will lock and unlock the boot and glovebox

or you just need to wire both terminals at the back of the switch.

The easiest way i found,is simply to remove to lock all together.

Just make sure you leave all the wires connected at the back, and put the cylinder surround back in to hold both releases in the case.

Thanks everyone.

I was thinking of doing what Mustafa suggested and take it to a lock smith, but I can't see any point to having the lock, so I'm going to print out this page and give it to my mechanic and he can disconnect for me.

thanks again

the lock was intended to keep valet parking personell and mechanics I suppose from getting into your boot or glovebox.

Also if someone does break in to your cabin, they can't get to whats in the boot easily.

I use mine all the time as I often have my notebook computer in the boot.

Loise, I take it that you do not have your master key then, and only have the valet key is that correct?

Daniel

The only key I got when I brought my soarer was the door/ignition key.
