Hey everyone, I have renewed my gas struts in the boot and now the boot stays up, boy I miss it hitting my head NOT!
My problem now is, when I pop the boot, sometimes it lifts and opens with an unerving clunk, if I'm not quick enough to stop it.
Is there a way to stop this, or is there bump stops that can be fitted. I can't see where there would be one. Anybody???

There supposed to be bump stops that sit on top of the arms behind the fuel tank cover. Perhaps they weren't refitted properly.

Your struts may also be over gassed, or made for the added weight of a spoiler (if you don't have one).

The way they are supposed to work on any Lexus is that the boot pops clear but does not lift, then stays up when lifted by you. This is apparently so rain does not enter or your valuable goods not exposed to the world when you pop the boot from inside the car. So, your struts are over-gassed by Lexus/Toyota standards.

Cheers for that.
Had a look. No bump stops.
