http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_GZ_engine Saw a youtube vid of this engine in a Supra, and though it was a custom engine, then looked it up. Whack a turbocharger or 2 on it, and she would be a VERY nice engine ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcqaqXYBLBE&feature=related B.

waste of time, just go 2uz twin turbo and be done with it. There is zero aftermarket for the 1gz.

with a 1GZ you really wouldn't need to go much more aftermarket. There will be plenty of engineering places that will want to get their hands on the engine and tinker with it. Simple turbocharging would do thye trick though B.

Interestingly enough.. I was speaking with my mechanic which has a 600rwkw TT 1UZFE powered Supra drag car. And he was saying how a little while ago they got their hands on an import 1GZ V12 motor from Japan through export which they were very excited about and so forth.. But once they actually got it he said he was rather disappointed how basic and just miles below the standard of a 1UZ-FE is, which they thought it would be similar too - but 4 more cylinders and an extra liter of capacity. But in reality he and his mates found it was not really this amazing motor its thought of, just a really basic form of a V12 motor thats not exactly worth perusing to make powerful, especially since theres virtually nothing after market available to upgrade these motors. At the end he really said he would rather have a 1UZ-FE to work with than a 1GZ-FE... So go figure

Mike; No after market parts. Mate thats the fun of getting these motors It makes you use your brain to se what can be fitted. thay are basic motors; thay did come out of an old car mate. and there also could be some differences between the years thay were produced?

it would be a nice upgrade to the 2jz ge soarer :p looking at the youtube link, it took a monster turbo to bring this thing to 600 horses, and it looks very much like 2 x 1jz's in a V config, but still interesting. Might not be super powerful, but definately interesting. B.

Yer your right Mike BUT if your Mechanic has got 600 RWKW from a 1uz then he can afford to chase parts for the V12 and get over what he has from the V8

Yeah thats true Lew, But he found the 1UZ-FE was the more practical way to go and just a better engine overall than the 1GZ. From memory he had started the 1uz TT project years prior to getting this 1GZ imported as with some 1UZ which one has gone in his daily driver Hilux... I think they got the 1GZ as more of a way to see what they were like, fortunately not too expensive through a engine wrecker contact he had over in Japan too. But in the end was a realization that they werent as good as predicted.

5 liters. Imagine two 1jzgte's together in a V configuration... with poorly designed heads and half the power.
