Hey guys, I just picked myself up some new seats for the soarer. Only issue I'm going to have is that as I currently have the electric seats, the rails, mounts and seat belt buckle mounts are integral to the substrate of the seat so I can't just chop them off, plus I'm looking at selling them anyway.

I got some rails thrown in with the deal, so the are now movable. One of my mates is a welder/fabricator so making the brackets to bolt them to the floor should prove no worries. This just leaves me with where to mount the belt buckle? I am thinking of having a bracket made up for it to bolt to and welding the bracket to the rails, that sound ok? I'm open to suggestions if anyone else has done something similar!

Cheers

I think Any mods to the Seat belt mountings for street use require an engineers cert.

Mate before you do anything check with an engineer. Seats and Seat belts are a big No no. I cant stress that enough.

All good guys, the guy doing the work is a qualified welder/fabricator and his boss is a mechanical engineer so that's all sorted. I was just wondering if I was barking up the right tree or not in terms of mounting locations.

I put Recaros in mine on the original rails. Sure the original seats are in pieces but it doesn't feel like a soarer with basic mechanical rails. Seatbelt mount remains original. It depends on the design of the seat as to whether or not you can get them low enough.

Since we're on the topic of modified/modifying seats, does anyone know how pricey it can get to start modifying the bolsters, cushions etc?

I'm looking at replacing the seats i have with electronic ones and at the same time having them re-trimmed with the rest of my interior, however would also like to have the actual foam altered as well.
I havent actually looked in to it officially however throwing ideas around =P

No idea what seats im going to start with, late model Soarer or a different car model altogether!

My electric leather seats will be up for sale as soon as the new ones are in :-)

As for the cost of modding the actual foam, it wouldn't be very much. I got a quote for a basic re-trim, and a quote for that plus a re-bolstering and there is only a couple hundred differance between them for all 3 seats.

Have your retrimmer fix up the springs in your original seats (if you keep them)

I did with mine and they feel bloody awesome one year onwards!
