Ok what with the huge electrical failure i just had, and the other problems with my lemon of a soarer (note i love soarers but mine was crap) I'm looking into a new/newish car, budget about 30k to 50k ish? Daily driver, NO grey imports, don't mind about the size so much, considering the lack of interior space in soarer most other cars can't be any worse. Cars ive looked at so far, new WRX, not so nice, mini, not bad, mazda 6 mps/mazda3mps. Idea's for you guys? Thinkin of audi's as well, aussie cars don't seem to be that great on refinements, even tho my soarer was dodgy i got used to all the cool lil toys!

If you can manage a bit more money, I would highly recommend the new Mazda 6 MPS. Absolute stunner to drive, all wheel drive and go for the leather interior. Great cars.

Thats yet to be determined, all the fuses are ok, im guessing maybe ecu. After Xmas when i have some cash ill try n get it fixed up. Soarers must have a limp mode tho, cause as i said in the electrical section i was driving and everything electrical went dead, but engine kept running, power steering, indicators, dash, brake lights etc. But ill sell the car once fixed up, i dont expect to get much but time to move on. Yes the mazda 6 looks nice, i would only get it with the sports pack on tho, tho the mazda 3 mps has exactly the same engine so i dont know if i would bother with the 6 cept its a bigger car.

Civic Type R for the win. Boss has 2 of em, and if you like sporty feeling cars then they are deffo for you. They rev to 10grand from factory and pull all the way there. I got to drive one from cairns up the Caranda (sp?) range and I was dam impressed. Zero body roll, like a go cart with a stereo and a diff. Interior is stunning and has a digital speedo (thank god i dont know how to read analog ones anymore lol) and a really cool dash setup. i think they are about 45k plus onroads, but definetly well and truly worth a look if you like sporty feeling cars

Gah i hate the new toyota's i've drive a couple of the new ones and they are pretty rubbish, i'm sure the TRD one is ok, but for 60k i would want way better than average!

I don't fancy a honda, having to get it up to 5 or 6k revs just to get some poke out of it! I just read a review of the new volvo, with 2.5lt turbo engine, same as i think the ford xr5, it sounds real nice! Evo's look neat too! Maybe bit pricey tho! What i want is some performance but I like the refinements inside, good if not great sound system (soarer had it!), comfort (soarer), gadgets (soarer), but I won't pick up another soarer I don't think, less they made them 2004 plus. Tho that sc430 sure does look nice!

civic type r is 10 times nicer to drive than the Xr5, and looks better too IMHO. its unlike most other 4 cylinders you drive where it has to be revving to get anywhere, sure it revs but it also has guts down low. XR5 is a dog, so are the MPS's. I went test driving with the boss so i know lol..

that would have been the 3 mps yeah, cause the 6 mps is all wheel drive. My mum has a new volvo 2.5t awd S60 and it goes very well, interior is a bit plain though

Well the volvo i want to go look at is the C30 T5 reviewed here. http://www.caradvice.com.au/4061/2007-volvo-c30-t5-road-test/ It's not such a great looker but the review is fairly positive, I don't take rewiews so much to heart, I rather drive the thing myself, as i read a great review of the mazda3mps and the thing wasnt so great. But not so interested in JDM unless I can get one from a proper honda dealer or something. I aint going to buy dodgy again like I did with the soarer.

Just checked out the honda civic Type R, nice looking car, lacks a bit in refinements but looks like it goes! The interior looks mad! Needs leather, and a few other lil things. But dying to give it a test drive! The guy also showed me the euro accord which looks really nice too, of course doesn't go like the Type R im sure but has a lot more luxuries!

The new Type R is hardly a power house compared to what honda has done in the past in Australia. The old 1997-2001 Type R puts down 156kw from a 1.8L engine weighing in at 1170kg and this new Civic only puts out 149kw (Less than 150kw) from a 2.0L and is much heavier. Edit: Just did a search on Google and found out. Civic Type R 148kw, 193nm, 1350kg and 0-100 in 6.6sec

Hahahaha oddly enough I just watched an episode of top gear which they review it, and whilst that is just entertainment value, they bare out those exact statements! Still a heap of cars to check tho! Audi, VW, might even check the aussie cars but for the most part hatred fills me about them!
