Ah! I've seen this before, pretty impressive

I wonder if it could handle the horrendous weight of a soarer door.

I noticed the 'armrest' is integrated into the seat. I wonder what it looks like from the inside? My guess is it would be pretty flat and plain. Pretty awesome engineering though, and you could make the thicker floor-pan and sill look 'fully sik' if you pumped it out a bit.

If only we could make every inconsiderate driver get this bit of kit - no more door dings.

This happen in most of the sydney carparks already!!
Thanks to incredibly lazy individuals.

The disappearing door is a fantastic idea.
We all need them on our soarers, but in reality the rest of the driving community needs them more, as we are all too careful NOT to hit other peoples cars when we open our ever so huge doors and ease our way out of the vehicle!

I think you are being a bit harsh Steven...

Sure its not conventional at the moment, nor does it appear to be that economical, however i am sure you will probably see at least one crazy car design in the future with doors designed from a similar concept or idea.

Evolution occurs from people having wacky ideas like this one, not from people thinking how silly the ideas are.

When the Japs basically make these types of cars for next to nothing, why should Australia compete with them, seriously?? OOOHHH the Americans can build advanced cars, big deal, more than likely you stole/took the idea's for the Europeans or Japanese anyway, so no need to brag about you technology in cars.....

Hang on a sec here, we are not talking about the car its self, we are talking about the technology that goes into the car, and I agree with you when we are talking about designing/production the car its self. when I made this comment;

Steven Nanevski wrote on Monday, December 31, 2007 - 01:38 am:

I was talking about the technology that goes into cars. Just look at Merc or BMW, they had airbags in their cars fitted in the 80's, how long did it take the rest of the world to catch up??? I think to take as an example Holden, they fitted the first airbag in thir cars on the VS or VT range?? a good 10 years later at least?? So come on, you cant expect that the Americans can compete with the technology that the Europeans or Japanese put out these days on their vehicles?? I think not...

Whatever. You made a wanky insulting borderline racist comment and don't have anything to back it up, and can't just say sorry.

Now you're trying to sell that America has never contributed any innovation to cars or automotive technology. That's argumentum ad five-year-old.

Far be it from me to suggest someone might be careless with their facts but, much as I love European technological contributions, the airbag was invented by an, er, American and first fitted experimentally to a car by, umm, Ford and, oh bother, it was General Motors and not Mercedes who first put it out for sale.

Not to worry. I am sure there are examples where the Americans did not invent an automotive technology, as if that were relevant.

Why put words in my mouth?? I did not say that, if you read correctly, the Europeans and Japanese car technology is the best, no questions asked. That's why you have great car manufacturers like Mercedez Benz, BMW, Ferrari, Toyota, Honda must I continue the list??

You certainly do not have to apologise for getting your facts wrong about technology and trying mightily to avoid that point. It might help to apologise for being a bigoted twat, but to the extent that description is true, it will not happen either.

Fortunately, from these various posts you now look silly enough that your apology or not no longer matters.

Have a really nice new year :-)

Ok Trivia time, time to get some facts right here now you old cogger about the air bag for example,

1953 - German Walter Linderer and the American John W. Hedrik submitted entries about designing an airbag for the car

1967 - Mercedez Benz began developing the airbag for use in cars

1973 - The Oldsmobile Toronado became the first car with a passenger airbag;

1974 - Their was a despute that airbags were now killing more people than they were saving. Also Mercedez Benz was given the Safety Award by the American Department of Transportation for there role in the introduction of the airbag. Meredez Benz began production of the airbag for passenger vehicles as well.

Mid 1980's - Ford introduce airbags in their vehicles

Oh bother, I will get you some klennex you wipe all the 5hit that came out of your mouth you bigoted twat....

Anyway, I have had enough, nothing more here to prove or say so do what you want, feel, need to say to make you feel better again, I don't care now. Also I will say I do not like the design at all, as I stated in some previous posts. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I pissed people off and so what, not everyone agrees with everything. You think it's a good idea, I think it's 5hit, that's it full stop. So no need to take other peoples opinions to heart as some of us have here, disagree with them and move on, and no need to get personal as well. So a happy new year to you all as well

Of course Americans would be the first to adopt the airbag - they don't like wearing their seatbelts, but they will still sue if they get injured in an accident!

Steven,

in case it is hard to see the screen with your head up your ass, the comment that upset people was not your dislike of the door. It was your racist slur.

Steven, you rebutted zero of the facts I stated, omitted elements from your supposed time-line, and avoided my point assiduously. You failed the challenge in my post and continue to resemble the description most pithily stated by Miles.

Why not try to break out of that?

My head is not up my arse as I am replying to you comment, but racist?? Time to get the Oxford out and have a read...
I would call it more insulting or judgemental perhapse, even constructive critisim as I put it but you guys disagreed so anyway I'm glad you got that off you chest, feeling any better??

Time for you to read the Oxford too if you are agreeing with Miles. You made this comment..

the airbag was invented by an, er, American and first fitted experimentally to a car by, umm, Ford and, oh bother, it was General Motors and not Mercedes who first put it out for sale.

Now I come back with my timeline hence proving you wrong, so how did I avoid the point?? All reaseached via google as well.

David Vaughan wrote on Monday, December 31, 2007 - 04:53 pm:

Not to worry. I am sure there are examples where the Americans did not invent an automotive technology, as if that were relevant.

Please quote in any of my posts where I have said that the Americans have not done anything for the automotive industry??

David Vaughan wrote on Monday, December 31, 2007 - 07:15 pm:

You certainly do not have to apologise for getting your facts wrong about technology and trying mightily to avoid that point. It might help to apologise for being a bigoted twat, but to the extent that description is true, it will not happen either.

Fortunately, from these various posts you now look silly enough that your apology or not no longer matters.

As for this, No I wont apoligise for my view point, I am entitled to my opinion, as is eveyone else on this forum.....

How do I have creditability on a public forum?? Actually how does anyone becides the Traders who provide a great service to the soarer community. So if I spam trash all over the forum, get my Post counter to over 4000 posts, will people look at me differently will they??

Sorry I have to ask, how does someone do such a thing?? Or is it because I'm in my 20's and your in your 60's (I think) you can insult someone with style? Or is there some type of metre insults get judged by? That, I don't understand so lets try this to be politically correct.

Please use a wet one to wipe your excrement off your fingers when you typed it, any better

Oh, I still think the idea is crap as well, just for the record...

Steven, I did not try to insult you at all. Just made an observation and a suggestion.

Your reply was totally uncalled for.

Haha true Daniel, however i would like to see you get the same amount of power out of an OHC as a pushrod system in the same amount of space that the pushrod design takes up ;)
Both engines have to be from the same era as well.

I will agree though, if you are after decent performance then an OHC setup is better, however sometimes you just want more cubes for less space =P
