V8, i had massive electrical failure 4 weeks ago, I have now saved up enough money to take it to crossover. Funny I am getting it repaired to trade in on something else. Sigh, 3 grand for a soarer, i cry. Anyways the gear stick won't get out of park. The red button does not work, tried using the brake pedal, the brake pedal and the red button, all variations in between, the key in the ignition in different modes, it wont move! I will do a search, but has anyone had the problem? How to fix said problem? I have nominally checked the fuses and they seem ok. But to be honest I don't quite know what to look for here. Thanks guys. Hopefully the 2 n half grand i save will be able to fix it up some?

When you get in, listen carefully for a click sound when you place your foot on the brake pedal, that's the sound of the motor engaging the lock to allow the gear lever to move, no sound, no move.

The red button should push a white lever under the gear cover that manually over-rides the electronic locking mechanism to unlock the lever, but are you just pushing the button and then moving the lever, or holding the button in to move it (it needs to be held in).

If that doesn't work, slide the gear lever lower section down, remove the 2 phillips head screws, lift the handle off, then gently pull the gear lever surround off, and push the big white lever looking thing and try to move the gear lever.

I understood that the stick had to be in neutral to slide the plastic bit down? Be careful.

Nope, not in Neutral, but it will slide further in Neutral, but still enouigh in park, if you need to slide it...

In any case, gently does it :-)

STill stuck, i talked to the tow truck guy and apparently you can jack up the back wheels and tow still. Just a problem of it maybe being too low and front end scrapping on ground. I'll find out when he comes. Thanks for the advice guys

Hmm ok got the gear stick top off, I am assuming the big white plastic thing is the thing in the gear stick is the one that is pushed down by the button on top of the gear stick, if so how does taking the gear stick off it help? If it is not, I am not sure how to get the rest of the gear surround off? Sorry if that sounds confusing, sigh. Thanks for you help tho guys.

Once you have removed the shift knob, the gear surround (with PNDR21 on it) is removed by hooking your fingers under the central slot and tugging the surround upwards. It is held in place by a number of clips. Once off you can see a white lever to the right. Push this down firmly while moving the gearshift back and you should be able to get out of park.

Excellent work guys found out that little white lever you push down had somehow disconnected from the interlock, so had to shove a screwdriver down there, but got it in neutral and off to crossover it went. THANKS!
